Hunting Lodge 06/21/2023
General Summary
Ava, Daniel and Sabrom met together to head into The Black Forest, hunting trophies to join the Hunter's Lodge. Crossing the river on the ferry, they headed west, eventually crossing a smaller river. As they crossed they were ambushed by a few goblins, who they easily dispatched. They turned south, heading for the coast because Daniel wanted to try some fishing. On their way they found a cave, which happened to contain a dire badger. This attacked them on site, but it too was felled by the party.
Making camp along the coast, Daniel managed to catch a good amount of fish using the guts of the badger as bait. In the middle of the night their campfire was turned into a cloud of smoke as a grig invaded camp. It declared that they were trying to burn down the forest and blamed them for the disappearance of Fechlyre College. At first, Sabrom and Daniel were compelled to dance to the fiddle-like tune the grig created with its legs, while the grig attacked ineffectively with its sword. However, when Ava woke up she managed to shake its resolve with her scary words. It attempted to attack her, but missed in such a spectacular fashion that it dazed itself. Suddenly freed from the spell of its music, Daniel managed to grapple it to the ground and held it there until it agreed to stop attacking and act as a guide to the former location of Fechlyre College.
When they awoke in the morning, the grig was gone, but it had used the ashes of the fire to draw a map on a tree stump, showing where Fechlyre College once stood. They started to make their way back to Hunter's Glen to resupply, but came across another group of goblins, this time with a goblin dog. Sabrom knocked the dog out with a spell, and the party easily killed and scattered the goblins.
After resupplying at Hunter's Glen, they took the ferry north. From there they fought a spriggan, which looked to be a terrible fight, but luckily Sabrom managed to trip it with a spell. Though it struck a mighty blow against Ava, they managed to kill it before it could do more damage. Finally, they stood above the massive pit that is all that remains of Fechlyre College. Daniel managed to remember some basic history of the place and they wondered what could have happened to it. But, with no further clues to follow at this time, they returned to Hunter's Glen to turn in their trophies.
