Rough Research
General Summary
Richter was a planner. He knew the endless scourge of undead needed to be dealt with but he was also aware that without assistance, the problem would be impossible to face. After doing some studying and speaking with a secret group of backers, he put together a team consisting of himself, Gwen, Garth, and Nightlock. Richter spent much time sharing his plan with the group of new adventurers in the Flame of the Forest Inn. They were going to go in row boats down the river starting in Xiomara and ending in a lake in the Black Forest. Knowing their plan and confident of their success with the resources given to them by Richter's backer, the party left off.
The first few days of travel went well in the river. The party spent their days rowing and fishing while tying their boats off at night. Shortly after passing the city of Lakeside, the group was rowing their boats in a narrow area of river when Garth and Gwen both noticed something in the bushes. Preparing for battle, the group was attacked by four dire rats. The battle was fierce, but quick with the group of adventurers leaving with only a few bite marks. With the threat gone, the group continued on their river journey for a few more days before finally reaching their goal of the Black Forest.
After arriving at the Black Forest, Richter led the group onwards as they all tracked different sets of tracks. During their trek, the came to the mouth of a cave containing a catfolk skeleton. Garth and Gwen both started doing their own funeral rites while Richter crushed the bones keeping only a digit to bring back to his benefactors. Moving on the group began to follow a large set of tracks from multiple creatures. They followed the tracks for a few hours before coming up on a group of 50 ghouls feasting on an Auroch. Choosing not to fight these monsters lest they be overrun, the group moved on. Their final encounter was finding a lone zombie with his zombie wolf. Richter cleaved the wolf in two while Gwen shot an arrow with holy water at the zombie. The adventurers quickly dispatched both of the monsters and with their trophies in tow, went onto the Hunter's Lodge to get their hunting licenses. After that, the group traveled back to Xiomara to give their report.
