A Deal Made in Blood: Abyssal
General Summary
Calleus was new to Pandora and wanted to start earning some money. He saw a board post talking about blood and his interest was piqued. The post told him to meet at The Death Dells Tavern in West Haven. Having made his way through the portal straight into that city, he was in luck. He asked a commoner for some assistance finding his way and he was off to the tavern where he asked around for the quest giver.
Meanwhile, Gwen and Richter noticed the call on the board and decided they were going to do something about it. Gwen had already taken this quest before when he was newer to Pandora and he wanted to right some wrongs. Richter through intuition could tell something was the matter with this quest and also wanted to help though he chose to go in disguised taking the name Arnos instead. The two traveled together in Gwen's carriage and made it to West Haven quite quickly.
Upon arriving, Gwen knew exactly how to contact their secret employer; a man who went by the moniker Mr. Commonwealth. After waiting some time, they were ushered into a room where he sat at the head of a table. Surprised and happy to see Gwen again, he told them the details of his next mark; a young person with demonic blood. In the same way they had gotten the first target, they would be required to bring this new one back. Gwen inquired about Glompxsha trying to gain information about him and learned that he was still alive and well. With information on their target, they were off. Not before having a quick conversation to discuss how they were not planning on bringing this new person back though. If they were to succeed in their quest, they would be bringing this sorcerer to shelter rather than doom.
After some travel to Hunter's Glen, the group crossed the river into the Black Forest. While there, Gwen and Richter noticed that the forest was beginning to heal slowly but surely from the removal of the demonic portal that had once been there. While on the road, they came across what appeared to be a small child. Ever suspicous of travelers on the road, Richter was able to notice that this traveler wasn't a small child at all, but a gnome in disguise. After some questions and tyring to get to the truth, the party could only believe that the gnome was just trying to get by without getting in trouble. After all, you never know when murderous adventurers might just attack you.
The mystery of the gnome gone, the party continued in the forest for a few hours before they were attacked by a giant juju zombie dire bat! It swept down and tried to bite Richter, but he cut it in two before the others had an opportunity to react. Afterwards, the party found a spot to rest. Both Richter and Gwen kept watch while Calleus chose to sleep. During the night, all three of them were met with strange voices trying to get them to turn back in the forest.
Waking up the next morning, the party was not persuaded. They continued traveling on. After some time, the group heard a voice telling them to turn back as their final chance. Refusing, a strange incorporeal monster flew down from the treetops to attack them. this monster did a number on Richter draining his wisdom. it was Gwen who was really able to shine though with his divine magic using it to slay the beast. Thinking their obstacle out of the way, they continued on.
The party finally came to what they were looking for after a few more hours traveling. A father and mother trying to protect their child. The group tried and tried as they might to convince the parents to allow them to help but something was holding them back. After Richter tried to approach, the father lashed out cutting him on the face. it was Calleus who was able to calm him down and convince him with a deadly speech to allow the child to come with them. Upon agreeing however, the group was attacked by a Quasit demon who was trying to control things from the shadows. The party slew the demon and returned to Xiomara with the family allowing them to stay at Gwen's personal Inn. When he returned, he found a letter from Mr. Commonwealth stating that the price for failure must be paid in blood. Not wanting to be undone, Gwen returned the letter with a threat of his own and went about his business.
