Yvette has been uncharacteristically reserved and trying to avoid leaving for too long.
Cody: Don’t know what to tell you. This one’s good. The usual charms only get you so far.
Wiggin: Alrigh’. It’s risky but maybe we need to offer something else.
Cody: I’m game. What does she want?
Wiggin: [checking room is safe and unobserved] How many estates do you still have backways into?

Hodge “The Conscript”: only survivor of an army of stars
Gave Cassie copy of the list of no longer existent churches (from Undergazette) although didn’t mention where we got it from
Kashmir the Banished was a summoner.
The Stargazer Library has copies of Peerage but giving one to Johann(a) might be more disastrous than allowing the Mongrelfolk to steal noble babies.
+1 letter of permission to access Fogg’s Compendium (THANK YOU CASTOR!)
Orderly – dwarf Berstrurder - classic Dwarven name
Cobblestone floor exterior brick walls (once a street but now bottom floor of college) with gas lampposts

Psychic Battle Rules
  • As a free action may draw from reserves but doing so will result in Hugo being fatigued for 24 hours.
  • Drawing from more than half of his reserves will make Hugo exhausted for 24 hours.
  • Drawing from all of them will render him unconscious.
  • Can also sacrifice tail spells for a number of reserves equal to the spell’s level.
  • Hugo starts with 24 mental reserves and ends with 15, so he will be fatigued when he exits trance.
Mirror of Erised style character building!
Hugo’s Mindscape: Ornate silver room, overgrown with bramble vines.
Where Hugo’s Soul is hidden: In one of the areas of the room the vines grow close, such that anything concealed within them would not be seen by the room’s silver.
Hugo’s Guardian: The little fox genie in his headband
Hugo’s Soul Container: His bramble artefact pendant
Hugo’s Soul: Normally Salsabil light, but the Div curse is a viscous pulsing the oil that is harassing the stuff that Hugo’s soul is made of in time to Hugo’s shaking body.
It looks familiar – Princess’s apocalypse magic is also jagged and violent but it’s a golden light rather than the black oily Div magic.
Chime is working with Fake-Yvette!
  • Risks
  • Jump forward to the last stage tonight.
  • Last night of Hightide.
  • Mass death and destruction
  • 8 nobles
Fogg has magical auras on coat, watch, mask, glasses, wheelchair, voice, gloves.
Yvette’s mirror also has an aura, and so does the eye gem in Fogg’s therapy contraption.
Glasses: When correctly calibrated (study a creature for 3 rounds) the lenses allow the wearer to use Detect Thoughts on a creature. This stops when they can no longer see the creature or can be stopped voluntarily as a free action.
Mask: If the wearer is a mesmerist (as Fogg is) the mask enhances the mesmeric abilities of the mesmerist’s voice. The range of his abilities increase by 10 ft. and can implant a mesmerist trick into the mind of a willing creature without expending a use. Additionally, any creature under the effects of his hypnotism gets a -2 on attacks against him.
Watch: grants a +4 bonus on hypnotism checks.
Wheelchair: Once per day grants the effects of Haste.
Voice: Instigate mindscape (concentration), readied action Mindscape Door.
Eye gem: Functions as a crystal ball, allowing wielder to do a scrying spell including into other planes of existence (currently the Astral Plane). Detect Thoughts. Trapped so that anyone attempting to use the device without Fogg present would be hypnotised by a Suggestion spell.
Fogg is neutral evil and is old enough to have memories of past apocalypse – burned internal organs.
Armoured Dwarf guards are both Lawful Neutral (one of them is male and looks vaguely similar to Nightkeepers – possibly a distant cousin, but no closer family resemblance than that)
What time would the Wasps go off?
“We want to give the wasps enough of a fighting chance as possible. Not until midnight.”Fake-Yvette is willing to provide information to Hugo about when the wasps are due to spawn.
It’s currently about sixish (sunset), which doesn’t affect the soul (doesn’t dim or anything like that).
“The real me is, I think, conversing with that delightful Bakerstreet gentleman”Fake-Yvette is currently being charmed by Cody
Call her Pairaka (genus)
  • A form of Div

  • Spreading plagues and pestilences
  • Spawn insect plague (usually 1/day, however unscrupulous mages create artefact to empower this)

+1 maladies compendium
+1 Div compendium
+1 Prescription
Vents are being guarded by Air Genies from the “Agamemnon boy”.
Clockwork automata from the Masons
Shajaras were also called in: Cassilda has replicated blood magic on the Dargent estate. This has got the Shajaras antsy – although none of what they have done is illegal, it is pushing social acceptability and may lead to people asking questions that they would prefer would not be asked. The Shajaras have been doing some shit.
Ironsides are planning a Dargent battleplan (Britomart and Menelaus)
Similar tactical conversations are going on at the Mason Estate
Aloysius: “It suggests that our relative position vis a vis who needs who may have been reversed.”
Aloysius is the kind of guy who says vis a vis a lot.
Stargazer attitudes to Cassiopeia (-6) and Castor (-2)
Hayrold – “Snake-like reflexes a bit too snakelike, ey Hayrold?”
Castor! <3

  • Tengu talons, scaled humanoid.
  • 5-fingered hands.
  • Recognises Gnolls mentioned in recording.
  • Medium-sized, smaller than Lindie.
Garden of Remembrance
  • Roots and vines grown over rocks, feels like underground cave.
  • A Capella singing in a mishmash of languages and styles.
  • There are what were languages once.
  • Couple dozen Mongrelfolk singers spread through the mass that are used to harmonising with other Mongrelfolk in the garden.
  • Multi-level height
  • Like a water feature in a rock garden, but with sand instead of water
  • Sandpits with bushes and trees
  • Bonsai garden with a pool of clear water in the centre (water is scarce at this level, so this is clearly a sacred pool)
  • Some of the Mongrelfolk are tending to the plants, some are sitting in silent contemplation.
  • In the centre is the clear water with handful of Mongrelfolk divining and scrying.
Poltus
  • Bearing of a leader guy
  • Size and build of dwarf, otherwise has shape of a kobold.
  • Illusion of burliness
  • Scales separated with fur sprouting (looks fuzzy)
  • Doglike eyes
  • Toga is crinkly, slimy reddish plant (Lindie doesn’t recognise kelp)
Shrines have offerings of conches and jellyfish carvings.
1 shrine has kelp draped over it, but the main focal point is a fanged mouth – Gnoll (Worgoth) shrine.
2 Mongrelfolk at Gnoll shrine – antsy
  • Younger man in 20s, larger and subservient, wields club (Pugnacious)
  • Older woman in 40s, hyena patterning (Runt)

  • “The vizier can hang for all I care, but I have to look Flogistan in the eyes with these.”
  • Furless scarred Gnoll who Is slumped in ancient leather mouldering armchair in front of an ancient, cracked floor-to-ceiling mirror. Protected images standing and looking straight Richard Dargent, Barrack, skinny red-skin goblin alchemist.
  • Richard gives an address. I don’t recognise it but recognise the street in the Rich Commoner’s district. Fruit trees on side of road. Immediately below Yvette’s house.
  • 17 Cherry Tree Boulevard.
Round 4
  • Fizzle (due to cynophobia)
Argh – more Gnolls!
Glitterdust and Create Water distracts them.
None of Mongrelfolk present worship Whirling-In-Rags, but they might consider Connie’s ability to just Create Water to be a pretty big deal on levels where water is scarce.
Hugo's Solo Mission
+4 horoscopes from Castor (“Well, save some for yourself, yeah?”) Grimoire Brasseyes crying?! - “Dargent?.... Katib?”
Hugo goes from Invisible to visible, and also shapeshifts into Cody in front of her. This is definitely fine. She gave me her word that she would keep it to herself – “I won’t tell if you don’t.”
Preyfinder
Hugo to Cody: “Take the wand and heal yourself, dummy.”
Wax of Defiance in tin with Bakerstreet sigil: minus 2 Perception, +4 vs. charm and sound-dependant compulsion
Carpet activation word – Ironsides use Terran word for “Dogfight”.

+1 waistchain and key
Chime to Hugo: “It didn’t have to go this way, noble.”
Cody to Chime: [while stamping on his remaining hand holding onto the magic carpet] “Get off my carpet, bro.”
