Glasshouse Security

Founding

After the debacle of the intelligence crisis between the The Terran Republic and The Antares Federation in 2540, Alanna Knottman founded the private security corporation Glasshouse Security, specializing in intelligence gathering and off the books operations.

Growth

In 2540, the Avander-Slade family and the Solarin family invested in the corporation. An aggressive recruitment campaign saw many Intelligence officers from the Republic and the Antares Federation join the company.   In 2555, the Auras Unions, historic allies of the Knottman family, invested, as well as hedge fund Acorn Investments. The Avander-Slade family offered to take on the debt that Glasshouse accumulated when they got started, the Knottman family swiftly repaid that debt to the Avander-Slades, which allowed Glasshouse a lot more movement on the market.   In 2555, Glasshouse hired the AI Lepidius 171 as VP for Strategic Operations and was valued at 14 billion adjusted dollars.

Notable Operations

From 2550, most of its resources were diverted to fighting a war in the shadows against terrorist organisations like Jericho, under the operation name Joshua. Their efforts, in conjunction with several planetary governors, heavily disrupted the terrorist organisation's efforts on Mars, Earth, Fort Kurzon and Tyr.   in 2550, President Inkerman agreed to put Glasshouse Security on retainer for the next five years, having paid 2 billion adjusted dollars for the privilege.   In 2555, Glasshouse was investigated in the Alexander Ashpool scandal, but nothing came of it.   Project Starfinder: In 2555 Glasshouse took on a contract for science corporation Tanit, to retrieve shards of a stargate lost in Karkouri space when the The Terran Empire fell. The long and difficult operation was ultimately a success and Glasshouse operatives retrieved enough fragments for Tanit to use in their research.   In 2555, Glasshouse began an operation to {REDACTED} with the support of {REDACTED}. The operation was largely successful and led to the recovery of crucial intelligence in the fight against terrorism throughout the Republic.   In 2559, after she made a rare media appearance confirming she was still alive, Glasshouse Security attempted to discover the hiding place of Solasta Varley, leader of Burning Path. With the help of Selwyn Tancredo and his valtanist connections, a Glasshouse agent infiltrated Burning Path's network on Avalon. The operation went awry and the agent narrowly escaped, with a Burning Path operative in tow. The terrorist was handed over to the Republic Intelligence Services. In retaliation, Burning Path assassinated Senator Tancredo.   In the years that followed, Glasshouse was the victim of an aggressive campaign in the media as well as several attacks on its assets, including a drone strike on its offices in Dhaka City.

Disbandment

The Avalon operation became public knowledge when Governor Tyler Winnant (Ravenheart) publicly accused Glasshouse Security of kidnapping. This was the basis of the Glasshouse Affair, which implicated President Herrick Knottman and eventually led to his resignation in 2565.   In his resignation speech, President Knottman publicly stated that "[the company]'s organization and structure is simply too flawed to allow it to continue". He disbanded the company in 2565 and the various investors were all paid back.
