StarStone-12

StarStone-12 is the name of a space station built into what was once an asteroid, now connected onto two smaller asteroids that linger together by construct. The asteroids have been built onto, and even mined, producing a Five-sector system of reference. It started as a system found by common rifts, making it technically (but somewhat of an open-secret barely acknowledged) part of the OA system. It was actually the most fatal common rift, even more difficult than the Mysiloid homeworld, until Ryclins figured out a way to time the tears, and breach it with colonizing space technology. It was said it took twelve attempts to get right, and was forged into the first inhabitable facility was finished: later translated as StarStone-12. The asteroids themselves are individually named, with the largest central being called Iron Lord, and the others Erwin, and Kysora.    With time, Starstone-12 became a dominion of differing Gearmen, and without heavy law, became a major place of trade through smarter residents or rift-prone accidents across the Omniverse. It is therefore considered a sort of 'crossroads' for different life to meet, and trade or stow-away.   There are five alphabetic sectors with some variations...

Sector A

Sector A is considered the "Bridge" sector, also the more lavish one. Its where both the richest or more elite of residents stay, but also those in charge of vital station functions. Communications, rift relay, the council board, and others stay here. It has numerous safe-guards, teleport mapping, lounge areas, and many large personal rooms. Sector A is located on top of the main Asteroid, built over other sectors with easy cross-over into sectors C & D.

Sector B

Sector B has been nicknamed "The Rylie Bin" and the "nature" sector. The majority of ryclin residents stay here, and have manufactured a system full of synthetic biomes, but its far from a 'ryclin-only' territory. Here, sciences, and some engineering are conducted in smaller offices, while more large and open rooms have been turned into small nature chambers where most native-born ryclin tend to hunt, and reside. Metavoxian-Hjoldis teachings hold a minor temple for monks here, but in fact started and still more actively operate within Sector D to capitalize on foreign interests. Sector B is mostly fostered around the smallest asteroid named "Kysora", built around and even with a tunnel going into it.

Sector C

Sector C is also considered the "Main residential" sector, where things are commonly catered to suit a common worker's staff with basic small roomage, easily accessed maintenance tools, and safe exterior exit ports, cafeterias, small regulated vendors, and even numerous rooms with a separate air filtering system for unmasked gearmen activity. Its space works into the crust of asteroid Erwin.

Sector D

Sometimes remarked as "The commons", Sector D is roughly where 'everything else' goes. Its a large, under-kept part of the facility with small rooming accommodations, and expects visitors to more often be the type of cheap travelers or lost wanderers. This has inspired the most accessible sleeping conditions being ventilated cabinets borrowed to those paying to safely drug themselves to sleep. Bigger room units are more expensive, and few, and the main population has actually turned to sleeping out in the open on floors. Most of this space has a lot of its own self-produced activity going on, with so much foreign life intermingling across trade, missionary work, crime, or questions of better opportunity. Its virtually become the core image of SS12, for all of its seen 'crossroad' status at work. It was not always considered Sector D, and before renovations it was actually most of the core original facility, and rests on the shoulders of the largest asteroid, and is most closely associated with the entry under Sector A.

Sector E

Sector E is the most cramped and sometimes disregarded space by the main public. Its built mostly under Iron Lord, and worked with a small passage to Erwin, and is mostly regarded as the Mining base of operations that brings loose scraps, or tests small terrain testing projects that don't entirely work on Sector B. Mostly staff work here, defining structural integrity, or mining pure metals from the asteroid itself.

Demographics

A wide mix of demographics fill the station across all times, serving as a "cross-roads" for the omniverse's activities. However more precise residential people tend to include a large majority body between Gearmen, and Ryclin, with Vahamin making up a very small minority that has even been confused with a few other human types and inter-mixed. Non-OA Vyllkard residents have actually overtaken the 'normal' human number in some sectors. Larger numbers of long-term or native-born residents can perhaps be categorized as follows...
  • Gearmen: 40%
  • Ryclin: 25%
  • Vyllk: 13%
  • Vahamin (or adjacently "normal" humans): 10%
  • Other: 12%
These numbers do not account for those staying very short amounts, or tourists, which often dwell higher in the "other" alien life category.

Government

Once ruled by a small group of ryclins with smaller oversight, it was since sold centuries back to a Gearmen separatist faction that rejected Dustin life. They formed a republic of basic rules, and consider themselves an outside entity from the OA, much as the OA rarely recognizes the station as a place. Typically the laws invoked are ones to not murder residents, not to steal, and those regarding small taxes to venders. Following some exceptions, most ryclin stay under a clause stated from old sales that most residents don't need to pay a tax, and most station ryclin live by ways akin to social-anarchism where they mostly clone and produce their own food source in limited biome simulated spaces. Gearmen residents, and many staying and tourist-fed venders, tend to provide the funds that lead to infrastructure improvements, and revamps, while ryclin tend to more often produce the materials and contribute when they desire, or take up specific jobs and roles of small work. However the legal forces don't often cooperate well with passing visitors, or small 'nobodies', and murder, theft, or even rogue ryclin devouring have occurred more loosely, and are unenforced as long as there isn't enough noise and evidence.

Defences

The most basic and prominent seen form of defenses are merely Gearmen and Crasher ryclin acting as militia. Weapons are often readily available, and every native-born human staff member is trained on how to use a D-18 Thundra with safety guides, though concealed weapons or volatile Thundra munitions tend to sometimes run more in-depth screening.   Other forms of defenses involve the orbital screening process, and rail laser exterior defenses, and limited missile capacity. Internally, more vital and well-off sectors such as Sector C and A host more common methods of turret systems, and auto-targeting, while Sectors B and D may prop up similar defenses in forms of personal android guards and assistants around those affording or well-learned in their care.
