Orbital Archipelago

Still a W.I.P
The Orbital Archipelago refers to both, the physical landscapes connected by legal recognition for their reality tearing instability, and the body that governs it. Between various planets, there exists a common theme of rifts or tears where doorways from other worlds temporarily tear open, including and most frequent with each other. Ryclins & Mysiloids are natives to such a system, with Ryclins especially proven and capable of navigating and exploring the system with additional historic impacts on Dustin, & Atlas (in older contexts, called Zysaphar, and Atylon). Upon entry and dealings with Vahamins, the official government began its creation.   Instabilities come in mixed forms. There is forms of classifying rifts as Domestic (in the OA), Foreign (outside), and Driven (Created by artificial means, intended most often with ships or warpgates). Then there's also the difference of tears (Short surges, often for small or quick passages of energy or life) and Portals (Large or long-lasting rift effects that can endure multiple traversals or cause atmospheric holes). So a Domestic Portal might be a temporary sudden doorway from Dustin to Kyberus, but a Foreign Tear could be a creature of unknown origins coming into Dustin or Kyberus. These rifts often cause energy distortions before they even build and occur, and are detectable, predictable, and even preventable, but all of this is present for the other side as well. As such, some capable, curious, or even dangerous species will occasionally investigate the rift entry into the OA, or confuse it for something an agent or enemy is causing for mischief. Species like the Vyllk and K'siiva were once prone to such curious natures and studies of the rare rifts from their end of the universe, which lead to dynamic connections with the OA.   The planetary bodies include:
  • Kyberus & Hylas: Twin planets, where Kyberus is home to Ryclins.
  • Iskaar
  • Atlas & Veta: Atlas became a late moon home to the Vahamins, and it orbits the planet Veta.
  • Dustin: Home to Rustgoths
  • Gelcynar: Home to the Mysiloids.
Secondary sites:
  • Kasar Universe: Considered a "sister" universe, containing intelligent planets of Cauven, Nejave, and Vaxhora, etc. Non-OA, but well recognized and use in trade through multiple venues and odd discoveries.

  • Phantom-Bolt: A research space station built around old K'siiva remains in the depths of Kyberus' solar system.

  • HSN: Hylas Safari Network is a scientific project mostly done by Ryclins that report to the government on uses or tests done on Hylas.

  • Starstone-12: In an old past, ryclins tampered with artificial rifts to try and find an asteroid that seemed to be effected by them as a common dead-end rift tear that occured. Eventually, this was the result, a station used by multiple species, built into a stagnant space-rock. It hosts some celebrations, or shady dealings, and is poorly monitored and barely recognized by OA authority.

Intelligent Life & Representation

There are only among a handful of life-forms registered to be true OA citizens by just their race history alone. Assuming they aren't wanted criminals, this allows them unquestioned access to and out of the aligned universes, emergency welfare benefits fitted to the special customs, and stands to expect payment in the form of the common OA currency of SAWC (Social Archipelago Work Currency - a digital format tied to a social profile, and able to be dynamically shifted with other exchanges by speaking with a special OA banker associate or AI). These species are also of high concern to the well being, territory claims, and entitled to specialist seats within senate hearings and political discourse. However the benefits aren't leveled out as equal, with themes like political play more overpowered towards favors of Vahamin, and Ryclins.   Represented life includes:
  • Vahamin
  • Ryclin
  • Rust-goth
  • Mysiloid
Common foreign residents and/or frequent dealers include:
  • Grebel (Native to Kyberus, but too antisocial)
  • Ho'Naht
  • Vyllk
  • Grina
  • Sycore Conglomerate
  • K'siiva (Somewhat infrequently)
  • Mixed 'others' of mankind
