Summer Camp 2022 Worldbuilding Pledge
Pledge
Creative goal and Motivation
Like last year, my initial thought was to once again focus my writing on the Empire of Garyiala, but if I have learned anything from last year, I will deviate from that plan after seeing the first prompt. Last year, the prompts sparked inspiration for topics in various regions, and this year will likely not be different.
Since my motivation for creating my world is worldbuilding for the sake of worldbuilding, I will dive in without a specific regional goal. To give myself some sort of framework, I would like to stick to countries on the Continent of Namda, specifically the ones I started to work on last year. Most Namdan countries have a few topics I've had on my mind the past year, but never fleshed out, and luckily for me they fit the themes provided. Nonetheless, if a prompt inspires me to write about something on the other side of the world, I will, because I’m not going to limit my creative self.
For some extra flare, I want to invest in making my articles visually pleasing. Lately I've been getting the hang of bbcode and CSS. Let's see what I can do with it now.

Challenge goal
Last year, I completed 30 prompts and got gold. There was one that didn't speak to me (prophesies, I'm a right?), and I was content with everything I had written. However, this year I will likely go on holidays at the end of July instead of locking myself inside hiding from a certain pandemic, so 24 prompts is a reasonable achievement. I don't want to overwork. It's all about having fun!
On top of that, I want to read at least one article of each prompt by a worldbuilder of this great community and show some love!

Inspiration
Inspiration comes from everywhere. Movies, books, the news, dreams, music. Anything can inspire me. Since I'm mostly going in blind this Summer Camp, listing all my inspirations would be repeating my world meta. You can have a look there. Regarding the regions I will attempt to focus on, inspiration comes from various sources. The Frozen Isles are inspired by Robin Hobb's Liveship Traders trilogy, the game Frostpunk and Arctic cultures of our world. Asrila is inspired by nature, butterflies, other cool insects and solarpunk imagery (even though the world hasn't reached that level of technology yet). Lastly, Garyiala is inspired by the industrial revolution, classical wizard stories (especially Eartsea by Ursula Le Guin), Final Fantasy and many disturbing dreams I've had over the years.
Music to get in the mood
Currenlty, I haven't decided on the mood of specific regions of my world, only the general mood. For the past year and a half or so, since World Ember 2020, I have been listening to Peter Gundry while writing about Odezia. I feel like his music emphasises mystery and wonder and sometimes a little bit spookiness, everything I want my world to be.
Writing Plan
During the month of July I'm free, Summer holidays, yay! But having all the time in the world after having worked your ass off for several consecutive months, often means not knowing what to do with free time and getting nothing done in the end. So, the plan will be like this: in case I have no other plans that day, I will write in the morning after a nice morning walk. In case I do have other plans, I'll squeeze an hour in the morning or evening depending on my plans.
To stay motivated, I will be more strict when it comes to my morning walks. I know I enjoy them, that it clears my head, gives me peace, but for the past few months I failed to uphold this good habit I had created for myself. So, I suppose I will try to pick up walking meditation again during Summer Camp as well. Wish me luck!
Recently, I also realized that joining the writing sprints on Twitch on Sundays makes me put out more words than I thought. So, depending on possible other plans on Sundays, I will join as many of them as possible.
