Knight of Niril
Next to the regular city guard, Zalbah-At, the capital city of Kritmorc, also knows the Holy Knights of Niril. The Holy Knights of Niril are a minor armed force and an honour guard. The main assignment of a knight of Niril is the protection of the three Temples of Niril, the Oracle of Nir and the High Perron, the head of religion and head of state.
Recruitment
Recruits to the guard are Kritmorn soldiers who have completed basic training with the Kritmorn army with the highest level of approval possible. The men must be unmarried, Nirillian and be between sixteen and thirty. They must have studied at the School of Niril of the Temple of Calveyr for at least one year and obtain a letter of good conduct.
Qualified recruits can apply to serve and will be screened thoroughly before they are accepted. Each year, on the 5th of Harvsen, new recruits are sworn into the guard. The new guard takes an oath of fealty and obedience during the ceremony. Guards serve for a minimum of six years, but can stay on for an additional twelve.

Duty
The main assignment of a knight of Niril is the protection of the Oracle of Nir and the High Perron. Moreover, they directly take orders from these two people.
A knight can be tasked with the direct protection of the oracle and High Perron as a bodyguard, if you will. Four knights are assigned to each of them at all times. Four additional knights are added to escort the oracle and High Perron when travelling outside of the temples.
A knight can also be tasked with standing guard or patrol. Guard locations include the mouth of the three streets leading into Portent Plaza, the front of a Temple of Niril and the back of a Temple of Niril. Knights patrol the streets surrounding and leading to Portent Plaza, as well as the temple halls.
