Primordial Era

... 15001

  • 1000000000

    Creation of the Far Realms
    Era beginning/end

The Far Realms are created; these planes are places of infinite possibility, created with alien and strange logic. They are almost entirely hostile to mortal life, for to look upon the primeval stuff of universal creation is to invite madness. These are outer planes home to strange logic and alien thought patterns, and are places of infinite possibilities, so much so that any without specially-coded thought patterns find themselves driven mad or even dying from looking upon them. The Aboleths , who might be related to these planes, believe that they are testing grounds for various iterations of the universe, to see what holds the most promise to the alien minds of the Codifiers.

  • 965000000

    Creation of the Cosmos
    Celestial

The world, and the universe as a whole, is created by the Architects; the first seeds of life planted, the strands of the planes woven by the Codifiers' temporal spinnerets. Some shards of the old world still linger, in the form of Forgotten Worlds (remnants of the old, mono-plane universe, some of which are still inhabitted) and The Old Gods (their Hearts were too powerful for even the Architects to fully destroy, and so they were shattered). At this point, the Old Gods are still immensely powerful, and continue to shape their bottle-worlds and even the planes in attempt to remake what was lost and free their children from the hunting of the Codifiers. The Architects and Codifiers care not, and divert their attention to other matters.

    Creation of the Chalchuilhue
    Celestial

Lolth, soon to become the Sea Mother, creates the Chalchuilhue on the islands that will one day be connected to form the jungle continent of Hekuashi. These eight-legged spider-women are made in her own image. Into them she pours her love, yet also her malice, hatred, and spite for the loss of the Old World. They are to be the ancestors both of more of their own kind, as well as the Marobunta and the Melifare, who also originate in the deep fungus-filled jungles of Hekuaxi.

  • 870000000

    Far Realms are Sealed
    Celestial

Access to the Far Realms from the Material Plane is sealed off, except for a few places high in the endless sky or in the depths of the earth or sea.

  • 800000000

    Birth of the Aboleths
    Celestial

The Aboleths are born, created by the architects yet influenced by the still strongly-beating Hearts of the Old Gods. It is their duty to create the life that will populate the world, and so they are given dominion over spirit and flesh, as well as access to the Far Realms and minds that can truly comprehend the sights and senses there, perhaps so that they could see what was to be, or what had already been, for inspiration. What inspiration could be found in those places, not even the gods truly know. Only the Overgod and the greatest and oldest of the aboleths retain knowledge of this.

  • 780000000

    Construction of the Overgod begins
    Celestial

Construction of the Overgod begins, a living Heart rather than a being that draws from a Heart, nine-faceted and crystalline. Each of these facets will eventually become one of the gods recognized by mortal life. The essence and domains of the Old Gods is gradually drawn into the Overgod's Heart as they are leeched of their power, eventually losing any of their mortal domains and reverting to gods of storm, sea, and natural phenomena.

  • 750000000

    600400000

    The War of Ages
    Military action

Desperate to perserve their dwindling power, the Old Gods unite to challenge the new ordering of the cosmos and destroy the Overgod. After eons of warfare, they are defeated by the servitors of the Architects.

  • 600300000

    The Overgod Complete
    Celestial

The Overgod is completed, the old god's attempts to disrupt it interrupted at every turn; the last of their more powerful domains are stolen away from them, and so they are reduced to a minor annoyance in the grand schemes of the Architects. Aboleth dominion over the world is absolute, even as the gods become stronger and stronger.

  • 600000000

    The Worlds Take Shape
    Geological / environmental event

The Overgod fully awakens from its womb of crystaline thread, which become the linkages between the planes. Land is raise from the sea, and the continents are born.

  • 400000000

    The Aboleth Dominions
    Founding

The Aboleth Dominions are founded, great empires beneath the waves served by the Kuo-Toa and Illithids. The Shapers of the Aboleths, Great Dyaghtsoshua among them, begin their work, setting in motion the evolutionary processes that will create humans, elves, and most other sentient races for reasons known only to themselves and the Architects.

  • 80000000

    Linnorms
    Geological / environmental event

Linnorms spread across the world; these primeval ancestors of all dragonkind once reigned supreme over the primitive world before being hunted almost to extinction by their more advanced kin and the upstart humanoid races.

  • 45000000

    Birth of the Fishfolk
    Celestial

The Shaper's works bear fruit in the form of the Fishfolk, boasting humanoid forms with scaly skin, webbed feet or fish tails. Great Dyaghtsoshua argues in favor of giving them greater reason and will, that they might better serve their aboleth masters, but cautions that their minds should not be so powerful that they realize and resent their servitude. Her warnings are ignored, but her suggestions taken.

  • 25000000

    The Great Rebellion
    Revolution

The Great Rebellion, as the Aboleths refer to it, occurs. The embers of a desire for freedom, of independence, are fanned by the Mother, the Laborer, the Gleaming Goddess, and Zenagos, and the fishfolk and merfolk realize their servitude, throwing off the chains of their aboleth masters. The Judge, Death, the Tyrant and the Dark-Veiled Goddess take it upon themselves to slay the Shapers, and only one, Great Dyaghtsoshua, survives. The Aboleth Domains are wiped out in a single night, the planet itself reshaping to swallow their cities whole or expose them to the air or sun, forming the great landmasses known as continents. The Kuo-Toa and Illithids are thus rendered almost completely extinct within moments, but still survive in some pockets to this day, waiting and rebuilding their strength.
