The Phoenix Empire launches reprisals into the Shyegh' mountains for raids committed by the Lamia tribes that dwell there. The Remaran Empire also considers this area to be in their sphere of influence, and tensions erupt into a brutal war that ends inconclusively

Reprisals into the Shyegh' mountains against the Lamias for raids they commuted against the Phoenix Empire attract the ire of Remara, and war breaks out between the two empires. The war is bloody and long, and neither side is able to maintain the upper hand for any conclusive length of time due to their equal power, the poor terrain in which the fighting takes place, and the local Lamias viciously preying on both sides. After 17 years, both sides are exhausted, and agree to a ceasefire that has largely held to the present day. Despite the lack of a clear winner, the war is commonly considered by many historians to mark the beginning of the end of Remaran military dominance.
