Session 9 - Central City

General Summary

The group takes a moment to peruse the area, checking for any clues. They see a large poster of Hans Dumont. Decorating the room are various weapons, armor, and other adventuring equipment. It seems Oscar enjoys heroics. What appears to stick out the most is a strange, crudely-stitched glove lying on the ground.
The group’s investigation is interrupted by Luca's arrival. He insists that Oscar must have simply run away again, assuring the group that Luxury Acres guard will retrieve him. Everyone is ushered upstairs and back to their carriage, ready to head out.
The group looks to Cookie for her answer. She explains that she loves Luxury Acres… but it’s not her place. Her place is with her friends at the moment, and she rushes to embrace the group.
As they go to leave, Luca hands off a map and compass to Sasha, and wishes them good luck and safe travels.
After traveling a safe distance from Luxury Acres, the group stops and discusses where to go from here. Eleanor determines that the glove they found must be from Emmett, a nasty, scummy settlement just south of Luxury Acres.
The group goes back and forth for awhile, and decides to head up to Central City, the hub of Nevurdul. There, Eleanor can pick up some more food for the group, and maybe everyone can get some answers.
On the way, Cookie finds a small parcel and shows it to Hamilton Caldwell. Inside is his medallion, along with a message saying, “THE ORDER IS WATCHING.” Hamilton discusses this with Sasha, and Skinny ends up finding out. He feels betrayed that they didn’t inform him, but they try to explain that they weren’t sure it involved everyone in the group or just the two of them.
Approaching Central, Hamilton narrowly avoids a rock hurtling towards him. It appears it’s part of some kind of sport. Central City is packed with people. It’s hard enough walking through the streets without bumping into someone. Hamilton and Skinny veer off to investigate the VendTech HQ, which sticks out from the rest of the scenery. Eleanor and Sasha head off to the market to purchase some food, encouraging Cookie to stay with the carriage.
Hamilton and Skinny enter VendTech HQ and come face-to-face with a Turner, one of VendTech’s numerous Servos designed to assist customers. They get to talking, but the Turner isn’t very helpful, and eventually glitches out. A man emerges from behind the desk and sets the Servo aside. He introduces himself as Kaspian Turner, the head of the Turner Project.
He insists Hamilton take a survey on his experience with Turner, but Hamilton dodges the proposal multiple times. Skinny storms out after being offended by Kaspian’s treatment of Servos. Before Hamilton leaves, Kaspian requests that he keep an eye out for a Turner that went missing somewhere out there.
Meanwhile, Sasha is very uncomfortable with all the people around. Eleanor attempts to calm her down by cracking jokes, but Sasha doesn’t seem too impressed. Sasha and Eleanor get separated, and Sasha gets in a fight with a large man named Sal. Sasha punches him and runs off.
After some scrambling to locate each other, the crowd is dispersed by the sound of gunfire. Maddie Beck sits atop her horse, gun pointed in the air. She passes it off to her fellow Rider , and insists the group come with her to get away from the crowds. They all follow and come up to The Stable, homebase of the Riders. Inside, the group meets Finley, a short guy who works the front desk.
They’re given a tour of the place, seeing the members casually playing cards and whatnot. They’re eventually led to the back of the Stable, where the actual stables are. Many horses are kept here. Skinny expresses an interest in the Riders, and Maddie Beck offhandedly tells Skinny he’s one of them now.
Hamilton gets upset at this, in his eyes, betrayal, and cusses Skinny out. He storms off to the woods, leaving Skinny to grumble and stay near Johnson for comfort. Sasha and Eleanor discuss how to pull everyone back together, and encourage one another that they can do it!
