Alice Roldwin

"I shouldn't have behaved the way I did. I'm sorry."
— Alice to the Misfits, apologizing for her past behavior
Alice Roldwin is a woman who traveled with Sasha Densharr, Hamilton Caldwell, and Finn for a time, before she settled in Remington Kingdom. She originally was a member of the Merto Archeaology Dispatch, working as a student in archaeology. She most recently had been recruited as the assistant to William Skudhauser, before moving to Remington Kingdom, where she resides today.

Appearance

Alice is an Elf teen, being only 16. She has relatively rounded features for an elf. Alice's hair is dark brown, nearly black, and it falls to her mid-neck. Her hair naturally curls out in different directions. She used to let it fall naturally, but currently prefers to wear it in a low ponytail. Originally adopting the "Nevurdul style", she has since opted to return to her roots, sticking with pencil skirts and blouses.

Personality

Alice is a very emotional person, and seems to have a deep-rooted desire to impress her superiors, particularly Hamilton. She goes out of her way to show off her talents. Alice is, however, still young, and is quick to temper. She is clearly still trying to find her place in the world, and the new change of scenery doesn't seem to be helping. She has little respect for those who don't respect Hamilton, most notably when Sasha would do so.
Alice is also an eager learner. She takes notes of her mentor's words, as well as her own experiences. This can lead to her drawing sudden conclusions and making assumptions based on very little knowledge, such as when she attempted to rob a carriage that'd been passing by, thinking it was "Nevurdul's way". Despite her mistakes, she's apologized for her actions in the past, and appears to want nothing more than to find a path for herself.
Since her time working for the Baron, Alice seems to have matured significantly. She has taken steps to calm herself and, as she puts it, "grow up".

Background

Born not too long ago, Alice grew up somewhere in The Mainland. During her childhood, she heard about Hamilton Caldwell and quickly developed a deep admiration for him and his work. This would ultimately lead her to pursuing a career in archaeology. Quite early on in this pursuit, Alice was invited along for the expedition to Nevurdul.
When the dispatch arrived, Alice was eager to prove herself. She listened to everything her superiors said, mostly Samantha Wilcott, who became a mentor-like figure for Alice. As time went on, she began to listen to Hamilton's teachings more than Samantha's, and would later end up looking after Hamilton when he was injured whilst exploring the nearby ruins.
When Ryka's tribe attacked the dispatch, Alice and Samantha somehow escaped, taking their cache of emergency funds with them. Over the next few weeks, Alice and Samantha settled into Riverbend. As they settled, Alice crafted a plan to locate Hamilton via wanted posters.
Weeks later, the plan eventually succeeded. Alice and Hamilton reunited, and she became acquainted with Sasha, Finn, and Eleanor. She was overjoyed to be back with her idol, and was eager to head out and travel with the party. Samantha, insulted by this immediate departure, stormed off in a huff. After Hamilton did some convincing, Alice was allowed to join the group.
Throughout the next few weeks, Alice showed signs of her lack of understanding. From robbing carriages to snapping at her allies, Alice's capabilities on the road were called into question multiple times. And while she apologized and promised to do better, her behavior had yet to change.
When the Misfits prepared to confront Liberty Castle, Alice was told to stay behind in Remington Kingdom, where she would be safer.
After the party's return from Liberty Castle, Hamilton and Alice traveled around Nevurdul for about a month in search for his daughter. Throughout their searching, Alice has come into contact with Baron Skudhauser, and made plans to work with him. Alice suddenly left Hamilton's company after leaving him a note explaining that she had to leave.
The party finally found Alice in the City of Steel, working for the Baron as a research assistant. She apologized for her past behavior during their travels, and greeted them warmly.

Relationships

  • Hamilton Caldwell: Alice showed a deep admiration for Hamilton from the jump, and while it's died down over the months, she still seems to hold him in high regard and cling to every word he says.
  • Sasha Densharr: Alice and Sasha's relationship was rough, especially when she said she wished she had experienced a tragedy like Sasha had with her family. She's since apologized for saying this, and Sasha accepted.
  • Finn: Alice and Finn seemed to have the beginnings of a friendship, with Alice trying to impress Finn on multiple occasions with her knowledge of Nevurdul's customs.
  • Samantha Wilcott: Alice originally saw Samantha as a parental figure; someone to keep her out of trouble. As Alice became more confident, she began to resent Samantha, and ultimately separated from her.

Trivia

  • Alice isn't accustomed to walking in heels.
