Tarikan was a talented enchanter who specialised in creating artifacts that would connect to each other. Items that have these properties are often referred to as Tarikan artifacts or devices.
Common
This variant usually separates into two parts. Once per day you can speak the command word to learn the direction and distance of the other piece if it is on the same plane of existence, if it is not then you get no reading.
Uncommon
This variant usually comes in three to four parts. You may use the item once per day, speaking the command word to get a direction and distance reading from all other parts if they are on the same plane of existence, if a part is not then you get no reading.
If a part is within 250ft of another you can sense the direction and distance of this part freely and consistently.
Rare
This variant usually comes in three to six parts. You can speak a command word while holding one part to get a read on the distance and direction of all other parts if they are on the same plane of existence, if they are not then you get no reading.
Alternatively, as a special action, If a part is within 500ft of another you can sense the direction and distance of this part and maintain a consistent connection for up to 10 minutes. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of one) per day.
Additionally, a creature may attune to a part, if more than one creature is attuned to parts of the same device they know the location of the other attuned device at all times if they are within 1000ft.
Very Rare
This variant usually comes in four to eight parts. You may use the item once per day, speaking the command word to get a direction and distance reading from all other parts if they are on the same plane of existence, if a part is not then you get no reading.
Alternatively, as a special action, If a part is within 1000ft of another you can sense the direction and distance of this part and maintain a consistent connection for up to 10 minutes. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of one) per day.
Additionally, a creature may attune to a part, if more than one creature is attuned to parts of the same device they know the location of the other attuned device(s) at all times if they are within 1 mile.
