Ravenshade Hills Geographic Location in World of Naru | World Anvil

Ravenshade Hills

This region features a temperate dusty climate, plagued by frequent sand and dust storms that sweep across the rugged terrain. Hills are scattered throughout this landscape, making it a challenging trek for traders and travellers. Nearby mountains often cover the area in shade for large portions of the day providing respite from the sun in summer months, or turning into an extra chilly stretch of land in winter time.   Amidst this harsh setting, a unique situation emerges as Kenku gangs have established a strong presence in the region. These clever and agile avian humanoids operate with precision, exploiting their expert knowledge of the landscape to their advantage. Their primary objective is to pilfer goods and valuables from travellers on the three surrounding trade routes, utilizing the dust storms to strike swiftly and then vanish into the haze. As a result, any traders in the area usually fork out for additional hired security to ensure the safety of their cargo.

Landmarks

The Whispering Dunes

An exceptionally wind-ridden section of hills where the harsh blowing sand sounds like hundreds of layered hushed tones. In particularly bad weather the noise can be deafeningly loud and heard from miles away.

The Shadow Hive

Interconnected caves and tunnels form the hub of operations for the various Kenku gangs in the area. The exact locations are known by a select few outsiders and even still, it is said they are not the most friendly beings to deal with.

Shattered Spire

The remains of an old structure long weathered and left to ruin, thought to have been built around 500 AC. It now primarily serves as a waypoint to guide people when visibility is reduced.
