The Proud Moonlight Heist

In the year 2311, the ship, Proud Moonlight was the target of an elaborate and still unsolved mystery theft. The ship was transporting a whole host of valuable items and treasures across the ocean which were under constant guard and watch. The ship was escorted by two identically sized vessels acting as decoy ships as well as added protection. Not even the majority of the crew knew which ship had the real treasure let alone what they were as the items were all sealed in magically locked crates.   They arrived a week later, under the ever-watchful gaze of their owner personal guard force, the crew of the Proud Moonlight, put all of the crates into carriages. The real treasure and decoy treasure loaded up into a staggeringly large 26 carriages, headed through to their final destination of Gootsrock Castle. After everything was securely unloaded into the castle grounds, the treasure began to be unpacked. As the first crates were opened all seemed well and payment was exchanged, however, before the couriers could even leave the grounds, those picking the items out of crates cried aloud as they turned to dust before their eyes.   A fight broke out with both sides calling for reinforcements and starting a war of two factions that would ultimately lead to the ruin of Gootsrock. Further examination of the crates revealed inside every single one, a scorched wooden insignia of the Moordenaar. Some items later resurfaced but the majority were never seen again.

The Tilonian Jewel

More recently, in 3976, a wizard in Montbury was so sure of his new enchantments and looking for some extra funds that he set up a challenge. For an entrance fee, one could attempt to remove the largest and most valuable known diamond from it's enclosure in a sealed room.   Many tried and failed to open, move or compromise the gemstone in any way. Some tried various methods of brute force and others enchantments and powerful magical effects but it remained there unphased.   One evening, another hero arrives to take a crack at the challenge to find the diamond gone, the enclosure still intact and the charms very much unbroken. A small piece of parchment left in its place, with a charred five point star and a bleeding eye in the center.
