Feywild

General Description

The Feywild is an echo plane of the Material Plane as is the Shadowfell, meaning that much of the general geography is similar whilst the environment and inhabitants are completely different.
This plane is a place of extreme beauty and magical power, even those not practised in the arts of magic can feel its presence around them. Strong enough feelings and emotions can manifest in physical ways and shape the environment, with negative emotions able to have devastating impacts in certain areas.

Travel

The echo planes may be reached either by teleportation magic or through 'natural' portals allowing almost seamless passage. Unless you know the rune sequence of a specific and still functioning circle, using magic to access these planes can throw unexpected results and is not recommended.
Those who travel between the Feywild and Material Plane often face mild or medium levels of time dilation although in extreme cases this has been known to spike drastically and causes shifts in time spanning years.

The Shadow War

Centuries ago, a large group of Shadar Kai infiltrated the Feywild seeking both revenge for being outcast thousands of years prior and to reclaim what they saw as rightfully theirs. Led by their leader Alosrin, they harvested the souls of the fey, creating metallic abominations known as tormentors that ravaged the land. Cities were smashed apart, the land was poisoned and scorched and those who once lived in peace were killed, enslaved or forced into hiding.
This conflict took a dramatic turn a quarter of a century ago, with numerous efforts joining forces to undermine the dark elves, destroy the tormentors and free the slaves. Alosrin was defeated, their portals ruined leaving their followers scattered throughout the fey lands without a way home and the slow process of rebuilding and reclaiming their land began.

Treasure Hunters

Ever since the hostile threats that decimated most settlements have been destroyed and the cities started to rebuild, the allure of lost magical artifacts and treasures draws ambitious folk looking for riches.
