Dyeing is the process of using materials to alter the colourings of other materials through various technices and processing.
Some materials perfrom a better job and are therfore much more saught after, some are especially rare or hard to come by and often require specialised assistance to collect ingredients and to make the dyes. Prices vary greatly by region and scarcity so be prepared to fork out for an extra special, vibrant dye job.
A simple dye can add ~20% additional cost to materials compared to their original colours. A complex or mixed dye job can see this rise to 35-40% and rare ones can be in excess of 50% extra.
To successfully dye a standard sized garment with the right equipment, an average of 4 ounces (0.25lb) worth of dye and 8 ounces of water are required. Larger garments or items will require more of each component and possibly a larger dye tray to complete.
