Boneheart Goblin Species in World of Naru | World Anvil

Boneheart Goblin

General Description

These goblins are generally the same build as their traditional kin. Their skin tones tend to be almost always shades of green, darker shades are more common than lighter ones.   They get their name from the hard white markings on their chest as well as bone like patterns across the body and limbs. They tend to wear leathers and green clothing to blend in with their natural surroundings.   Wherever possible they will tame wild forest creatures as mounts or companions with varying levels of effectiveness.

Personality

Boneheart goblins are slightly more intelligent, however their short fuses and greed still hinder the growth and wellbeing of goblin settlements. They often enact elaborate plans to wrong those who have wronged them spending days, even weeks scheeming and trying out contraptions.   Most goblins that leave their kind and become part of civilization or adventurers are boneheart goblins.

Combat

Their increased intelligence allows for the application of more advanced tactical warfare. They are incredibly skilled at making effective and dangerous traps to both hunt creatures and protect their settlements. Some highly skilled goblins are able to attack from such a long range that the target often has no idea who or what has assaulted them.   Common mounts and companions for these goblins are worgs, wolves and in some cases giant spiders depending on the region. These creatures are trained in stealth and provide quick flanking allies in combat scenarios.

Society

Their societal structure is very similar to traditional goblins, the strongest and smartest rule the pack, have the best equipment and the toughest mounts. Quite often, a larger entity such as a small group of bugbears or hobgoblins work with the bonehaert goblins rather than forcing them to work for them like usual.   Some groups of goblins choose to live in burrows, some are known to fence off small groups of trees or even construct very primitive treehouses to live in. No two encampments are ever quite the same, the leaders will however ,always have their own sections away from the common goblins.

Biology

Their tougher skin provides a much better natural armor for these goblins however many still choose to wear additional clothing for further protection. This mutation also allows them to travel faster with almost a spring in their step they cover ground quickly.
