Heartland
Cultural center of the Triamic Empire and seat of the emperor and The Triamic Council.
Geography
Heartland is at the center of what used to be known simply as the Plains. The land is flat and green, making for ample space for the people of the Empire to flourish. There are many broad rivers throughout Heartland (earning it the moniker "the Riverlands" in the past), the most notable being the massive Thunder River that bisects it.
History
Heartland and Lumina occupy the area formally known as the Plains. Society began there as a series of disparate tribes that settled into a feudal city-state system. Then, everything changed in the 1000s BEC, when Sheyla landed in Ipse, and Kaelic healers began spreading across the Plains, bringing along a more singular cultural identity in the form of the newly founded Kaelic Temple.
Beginning in the 710s BEC, the area was systematically conquered by the Mukala Dominion. The Dominion unified the area, restructuring the governance into a tiered system under different clans. The region (along with what is now southern Grennire) was referred to by the Dominion as the Riverlands.
The Great Plague of 533 BEC saw a rise in the power of the Kaelic Temple in the region due to the ease of their healing, leading to a systematic persecution of Kaelics in the region by the Dominion and mass exodus of Kaelics to the newly founded Lumina. However, the area remained primarily under Mukala control until the fall of the Dominion in the 410s BEC.
Following the fall of the Dominion, the Riverlands reverted back to a feudal system, albeit one comprised of small kingdoms rather than city-states. Most notable were the Mekulet Kingdom (located east of the Shimmering Sea, in the area between the Thunder River and Silent Mountains) and the Sheyla Kingdom (west of the Thunder River to what was then Lumina's border, near Whitelake). The two kingdoms were rather infamously across the river from one another, and came into conflict often.
Then, history was made when in 0 EC, Primas the Great took over the Sheyla Kingdom. He spent the next decades conquering the Mekulet Kingdom. In 22 EC, the Mekulet Kingdom surrendered, creating what was called the "Heartland Kingdom."
In 70 EC, when Lumina joined as an independent province under Heartland banners, the Triamic Empire was created and the original kingdom called simply Heartland.

Demography and Population
Heartland is the most populous of the Imperial provinces, as it is both large and relatively dense. Cities are large and sprawling, connected by what farmland and pasture can fit between them. While Imperia is itself diverse, the rest of Heartland is primarily populated by Imperials, with culturally mixed Desert Imperials common in the southern third of the province.
