Prehistory begins with the arrival of the first humans on Mu. People who came from the Eurasian mainland and possible migrated via Melanesia or via a northern route arrive on Mu some forty thousand years ago. Later migrations continue until the first milenia before the Common Era.
Ancient history begins with the arrival of several ethnic groups, the development of agriculture and the rise of large settlements.
The precursors of writing started to appear when the austronesian settlers first came to Mu. Around the year 1200 BC in the region of Chaluma on Magellania, written language was invented.
Writing on Mu was first invented by Austronesians on Magellania, yet not soon after another people invented written language independently on the northern subcontinent of Cipangu.
Foundation of the Atmuran Empire
Starting in the 6th century, Mu entered the so called Classic Era. Especially Cipangu flourished due to increased contact with Japan.
The Colonial Era begins with the european discovery of Mu by the spanish-portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, after whom the (sub)continent of Magellania is named. Soon the lands of Mu are desired by several powers both from Europe, but also from Asia, who take interest in the riches of the eigth continent.
