Smallpox Epidemic on Cipangu
In 735 a smallpox epidemic broke out in Japan. It spread from there on via trade to Cipangu, which it had even more devastating consequences. Without prior knowledge of the disease and its treatment and with poor immunity, such as from related strains from domesticated animals, the epidemic killed more than a third of the population of northern Cipangu. it eventually spread south, its ultimate consequences being unknown. The huge population loss created a power vacuum in Cipangu, leading to rapid changes in its aftermath.
