Mindosza

The Realms

Once the Haven Cities were reopened the former Nations of Mindosza seized to exist. Hundreds of years locked away to avoid the impact of the Convergence meant that most people had strong opinions, one way or the other, on how to start living live once the gates would open.

This meant, that instead of countries, Realms of likeminded people formed. These Realms may de-facto be countries but, as of now, without formal leadership and without territorial claim. Instead they are mostly identified vaguely by the strip of land they inhabit and the names the The Denizens call them.

The Elements

The Land of Mindosza is shaped by the The Elemental Principle . Be it magic or technology, demons, dragons or other denizens, all have to follow and abide by their rules. The six Elements are: Water, Earth, Fire, Air, Wood and Metal. Some of these Elements work well together, others cancel each other out. It is therefore not uncommon for followers of certain aspects to have reservations about each others motives as well.

The Elements are associates with certain attributes, such as the unwavering strength of earth and the endless malleability of metal. Combining these attributes therefore shape many values the denizens identify with. To a Fensalir Dwarf for instance, Progress hinges on the power of creation (or sometimes destruction) of fire, as well as a flexible and malleable mind and material, such as metal.

During the Convergence, the Titans merged and Mindosza became a chaotic landscape of warring elements, Horrors and other abberations, radically reshaping the continent while fighting each other and the few unlucky souls that never made it to a Haven. When the Convergence ended, Mindosza was reborn, cities razed, mountains crumbled, others born out of nowhere. With each day, as we move further and further away from the events of the Convergence, these influences become more and more muted, until such a time, when another Convergence may happen.

The elements are neither evil nor do they have an agenda, other than follow their nature. Fire Burns, Water drowns and earth burrows what it touches - therefore it is sometimes hard to deal with elemental beings, since their mind works in alien ways to most denizens. At the same time, the immense power of these elements naturally brings admiration and fear, which is why most religious believes are heavily influenced by shamanistic or druidic rituals to appease the land.

Horrors however, are vile creatures born of the Astral Plane, seemingly existing only to feed on all life. Two horrors are almost never alike, they are vile creatures, mutated from other creatures, often misshaped and feral. The most dangerous of these being do not even seem to feed on flesh itself, instead growing strong from imparting pain and suffering. It is said that the Elves of the Blood Wood were safe only because the great pain they imparted on themselves was too great to bear even for the most wretched horror.
