The Elemental Principle

The Elements are the Foundation of Creation, Land, People and Magic in Mindosza. Therefore they play an important role in everyday life. In their purest form, drawn from the Astral Plane, these Elements have magical properties befitting the core attribute of the Element and hardly run out.
For instance, a cantine of elemental water might hold hundreds of liters of water, before it runs out. Elemental fire can burn for an extra ordinate amount of time, without any fuel and normal water poured over it will fail to douse the flames. Therefore, this pure form of the elements is very sought after for its magical properties and many expeditions are sent out to retrieve some of it.
Due to the way the elements have shaped, destroyed and reshaped the land, the people of mindosza have formed many believe systems around them. The most prevalent is the believe, that the elements form a wheel of principles, showcasing not only their affinities with each other, but also the dichotomy of 2 opposing elements. The Elements are not the only spokes to this wheel though. As the denizens came to rely on the elements, some more than others (the desertfolk of Shona having other priorities than the waterborn V'strimon) they started formulating principles based on their believesystems and elements they valued.

For instance, on one side of the wheel both Air and Wood make for the Principle of Nature, free flowing and growing, while Metal and Earth are the building blocks to Civilization.
Not only do the prime elements have a dichotomy, such as fire and water cancelling each other out as much as earth and air. Also, so do these principles and ideas. And while Thespian people embrace their striving for Culture as a way of life, on the other side of the wheel both Fensalir and Tuatha Dé Danann denizens embrace the idea of decay as part of life.
These oppositions are responsible for many differences between the three cultures and regularly lead to conflict.

The Realms interpret their calling in life as well as their connection to the land in very different ways and therefore align with different parts of this wheel.

Opposing Elements

WOOD, the essence of autonomous growth vs. METAL, lifeless but able to be shaped by builders and architects
AIR, free flowing and incontrollable vs. EARTH, static and stoic
FIRE, destructive force and catalyst for change vs. WATER, life force and blood of the earth

Opposing Ideas

The Denizens of Mindosza are driven and distinguished by 6 principles - 3 pairs of opposites - derived of the elements:
CIVILIZATION, the trust in rules and restrictions to bring order vs. NATURE, the Freedom movement and opinion, a live without boundaries
CULTURE, the conviction to continuously build on the achievements of your ancestors, vs. DECAY, the acceptance of death as part of a bigger cycle of regrowth
TRADITION, growing strong together, to weather all opposition, like an old oak vs. PROGRESS for the greater good of all, both technologically and ethically
