Glossary of Terms

The following is a running list of essential terminology from the world of Milios. These important items, key locations, significant characters, or other major 'proper nouns' reflect that which the current adventuring party has learned, met, visited, discovered, discussed, or otherwise become aware of during their journey. Each term includes a brief summary reflecting the party’s current understanding. If the party has uncovered sufficient information, a full article may be linked; otherwise, only the summary is shown. (Note that some summaries may contain incomplete or outdated information.)

1. One of seven units in Silver Company. Experienced a mining collapse that trapped one of their number within the mines. (The general use of "(n)th Unit" is used to differentiate units within each Company of CDM.)

1. A Monotheistic religion holding belief in a Prime Deity called "Aeosa" centered around four fundamental forces defined by Aeosa's character which define the nature and movement of the cosmos and everything below.

1. A Female Aasimar of the Cleric class, created and presented by Ashley Smith. One of eight members in the current adventuring party.

Basafield \BAS-uh-feld\ Location, Settlement

1. A mountain town located on the eastern steppes of the Darkrock Mountains. The town is known for its booming mining industry and welcoming population which is primarily Dwarven.

Baylam's Pass \BAY-lumz PAS\ Location, Geographic

1. The highlands between two large mountain ranges just south of the middle of Osmia. Known to be an area of rolling hills and beautiful views. Occasionally sees very dry and/or hot climates but is moderate year-round for the most part.

Bramsley, Henrik \BRAMZ-lee, HEN-rik\ NPC, Basafield

1. Dwarven Male. Works for Crystal Deep Mining Co. as Foreman of Silver Company's 4th Unit. Was the first individual to request the services of the adventuring party. Asked that they delve into Crystaldeep Mines in order to rescue a member of 4th Unit who had been lost in the mines due to a collapse. Currently viewed by the party as a somewhat trustworthy point of contact in Basafield.

1. One of the three organizational divisions of Crystal Deep Mining Co. North Branch. Operates the North Mine in Basafield.

Camos, Delacent \CAH-mohs, DEL-uh-sent\ NPC, Basafield

1. Human Male. Constable of the Guard in Basafield. He is acting as the presiding judge and prosecutor of the case against the adventuring party and as such was also responsible for the closing of the South Mine. Said to be intelligent, competent, and vindictive, which seems accurate to the party.

1. The largest known active volcano in Kaherr located in the Fiery Peaks.

Crystal Deep Mining Company Organization, Regional

1. A large mining company that operates the entirety of Crystaldeep Mines from two branch locations- the North Branch in Basafield and the South Branch in Rakshem. Controls all surveyance and resource extraction beneath the Darkrock Mountains. Also known as 'CDM'.

1. A labyrinthine cave system spanning the entire length of Osmia deep under the Darkrock Mountains. Known to be rich in minerals, ores, and gemstones as well as many legends, mysteries, and secrets.

1. A massive mountain range located centrally on the continent of Kaherr. Holds the title of the longest mountain range in Kaherr. Divides the nations of Osmia and Corasa.

Deepsickness \DEEP-sik-ness\ Nature, Condition

1. A common illness that affects hundreds of mortals on a monthly basis. Generally understood by medical professionals as an infection of some kind, the symptoms of which are the body's natural defenses acting to heal the infection such as fever, headache, fatigue, nausea, congestion, cough, and body aches.

1. A Polytheistic religion centered around five fundamental Forces of the universe- The Laws: Power, Time, and Balance, and the Shadows: Chaos and Darkness. Over each Force, there is a deity whom controls and rules over it: Pajek rules over power, Losis over time, Vysen over Balance, Bazothal over Chaos, and Zephink over Darkness.

1. Dwarven and Genderfluid. Works for Crystal Deep Mining Co. as Supervisor of Silver Company. Currently frustrated with authorities in Basafield due to the recent shutdown of Silver Company's operational branch of Crystaldeep Mines.

1. Dwarven Female. Owns and operates the Merry Meats and Mead Tavern in Basafield.

1. The study of magical creatures within the material plane

1. The study of the Weave, which is known to mortalkind as the original source of magic that permeates throughout all dimensions and planes of existence.

Fiery Peaks Location, Geographic

1. A mountain range in central Osmia known for it's volcanic activity. Currently regarded as the tallest mountain range in Osmia. Includes within its peaks the volcano, Cinderspike and Kystadon Mountain.

Flamepetal Flower Nature, Plant

1. A red-orange flower with 15 petals and a leaved stem. Only grows in hot environments and blooms in extreme heat; Will wither if exposed to the cold. Known to carry anti-draconic properties but reported to be extinct. Currently suspected as a potential treatment for the Silent Necrosis.

Galdanam \GAL-duh-nam\ Belief, Global

1. A Transtheistic belief that all things contain within them a piece of what could be called 'God'. It is known as Galda and is more of a force than a being. In order to understand all that is and would be, Galda split into infinite pieces called Kiru, which resides in all living things. The meaning of "Galdanam" is the effort to bring Kriu into balance with itself and all other Kiru, which is an act of worship to Galda.

Greenfever \GREEN-fee-vur\ Nature, Condition

1. A bacterial sickness that spawns from still or stagnant waters that can cause psychosis due to extremely high fever. Said to be exceedingly rare.

Grensing Basin \GREN-sing BAY-sin\ Location, Geographic

1. An area of low elevation to the northwest of Risad that borders Deshar Loch and the Fogwood. Currently, the basin is extremely hazardous due to extensive flooding in recent years.

Grensing Flood \GREN-sing FLUHD\ Event, Historical

1. A massive flooding of the Grensing basin that occurred during the 321st year of the Restoration Era. Swells and rapid water-level rise reached as far as Hatham and Padham. Damages to the capital and to a majority of the mining infrastructure in and around the Peaks of Pride resulted in major disruptions in trade among the settlements in Osmia. Recovery from the flood is still ongoing at current time.

1. Orcish Female. Works as Private-Practice Physician in Basafield. Assisted the adventuring party in researching an unknown ailment that has befallen half its members.

Hatham \HA-thum\ Location; Settlement

1. A town in the central province of Osmia, situated on the edge of Lake Kimea just at the border of the forest nearby. Known for being a beautiful town and a main exporter of lumber and textiles.

Havens, Argen (Deceased) \HAY-vunz, AR-gen\ NPC, Basafield

1. Human Male. Husband to Yelaena and father of Matilda Havens. Worked for Crystal Deep Mining Co. as part of Silver Company's 4th Unit before a mining collapse separated him from his unit, which resulted in his death. Presumed to have been killed by a group of corrupted creatures that attacked him while he was trapped.

1. Elven Female. Daughter of Argen and Yelaena Havens, residing in Basafield. Also goes by 'Tilly.'

1. Elven Female. Works as a Textile Weaver in Basafield. Joined Henrik in searching for a group of outsiders to rescue Argen from the mines. Provided the adventuring party with her husband's enchanted amulet as gratitude for their attempted rescue.

1. Female Tiefling. Works as a researcher and the sole archivist in Basafield. Has platinum hair, green eyes, and ram's horns. She is also missing her right arm and has burn scarring on her right side, both apparently having been accidentally self-inflicted at a young age.

1. A small to mid-sized Pub in the town of Basafield. Known for being less popular than Merry Meats and Mead and therefore more home-like. Frequented by regular customers including many of the town's miners.

1. A Female Human of the Bard class, created and presented by Lauren Hensley. One of eight members in the current adventuring party.

Kaherr \KAH-hair\ Location, Geographic

1. The main continental body on the surface of Milios. It is situated centrally and crosses all three tectonic plates which form the crust of the planet. The continent wraps the globe nearly entirely, makes up approximately 40% of the surface of Milios, and consists of primarily grasslands and forest.

Kepi \KEH-pee\ Celestial Body

1. The single moon which orbits Milios. The Kaherran Calendar is based off of its phase cycle from new moon to full and back to new, which lasts 80 days in total.

1. Unknown Species, assumed Male. A priest at the Shining Light Temple in the Fiery Peaks. Known by relation to Rynn Archeris.

Limsoa \LIM-soh-uh\ Calendar, Month

1. The first month of the Kaherran Calendar. Named for the Galdanic commandment, 'Limsaad'.

Losoa \LOH-soh-uh\ Calendar, Month

1. The sixth month of the Kaherran Calendar. Named for the Divitristic deity, the God of Time, Losis.

1. A Male Gnome of the Wizard class, created and presented by Mark Harris. One of eight members in the current adventuring party.

Marlarna \MAR-LAR-nuh\ Player Character

1. A Female Orc of the Barbarian class, created and presented by Debbie Salazar. One of eight members in the current adventuring party.

Merry Meats and Mead Location, Basafield

1. Often referred to as the "Triple M", most in the town of Basafield know and love the tavern as a home away from home. Said to be warm and inviting, often featuring live music on their centerpiece stage within the main dining hall.

Milios \MIL-ee-ohs\ Celestial Body

1. The planet upon which the events of the adventuring party are taking place. Exists in a binary star system and has one moon. Also referred to as the Material Plane.

Milkroot \MILK-root\ Nature, Plant

1. A mostly unknown fungus among the populous of Osmia and Kaherr. Discovered by the adventuring party to be a key part of the mysterious disease they have been contending with recently.

Minzy \MIN-zee\ Player Character

1. A Female Elf of the Fighter class, created and presented by Kaitlyn Willette. One of eight members in the current adventuring party. Has a mysterious vanishing burn mark on her right shoulder.

Min Mos \MIN MOHS\ Player Character

1. A Male Dragonborn of the Paladin class, created and presented by Rick Hensley. One of eight members in the current adventuring party.

Mortalkind \MOR-tul-kieen-d\ Term

1. The term used to refer to all species of sentient and civilized inhabitants on Milios or the Mortal Plane.

Order of the Quartet Belief, Global

1. An expansive, structured, Matriarchal and Polytheistic worldview centered around Femininity and submission to Divine Authority. It is one of the oldest, most studied, robustly understood religions in all of Milios. It is also the most widely accepted and believed worldviews across the planet. The Order of the Quartet centers worship around 4 Primary Goddesses or "Mothers" known as The Divine Quartet - those being the Mother of Time, the Mother of Creation, the Mother of Power, and the Mother of Knowledge - and their first divine creation called the Daughter of Balance.

Ounism \OWN-iz-um\ Belief, Global

1. An ancient atheistic worldview centered around the use of primitive magics, one's magical aptitude, and magical Faunology. This also included study and contemplation of an invisible source of Magic called The Weave called Fibrology. It is believed to be the very first religion adopted by the collective of mortals alive at that time.

Rainspike \RAYN-spike\ Calendar, Month

1. The meteorological season currently, and that begins on the 13th day of Reshoa. Covers the latter half of Milios' climatic transition from the cool seasons into hot seasons as the planet enters the larger Orbit of Saereis. Characterized by high precipitation, significant and frequent meteorological events such as storms and high-winds, and plant re-growth.

1. A small town to the south of Basafield that operates the South Branch of Crystal Deep Mining Company. Recently came under attack by religious extremists, leaving 6 dead and many wounded.

Reshoa \reh-SHOW-uh\ Calendar, Month

1. The third month of the Kaherran Calendar. Named for the Holy-Matronal archangel, the Sky Shaper, Reshkar.

Resphoa \ress-FOH-uh\Calendar, Month

1. The second month of the Kaherran Calendar. Named for the Holy-Matronal archangel, the River Maiden, Resphira.

Restoration Era Calendar, Era

1. The current era of which the events of the adventuring party are taking place. Preceded by the 812 year long Age of Wandering.

Risad \REE-sahd\ Location, Settlement

1. The capital city and center of power within Osmia. Houses the royal family along with the primary government, and is a major center for trade and commerce.

Rojisa \roh-JEE-suh\ Calendar, Month

1. The eighth and final month of the Kaherran Calendar. Named for the Galdanic commandment, 'Rojusai'.

Rothnon, Harley \ROTH-non, HAR-lee\ NPC, Basafield

1. Dwarven Male. Works as the Keeper ofJagged Rock Pub in Basafield.

Ruisa \roo-EE-suh\ Calendar, Month

1. The fourth month of the Kaherran Calendar. Named for the Aeosistic deity, the Keeper of Light, Ruana.

Saereis \SAY-reese\ Celestial Body

1. The yellow-bodied star and the first of two stars within a binary star system around which Milios orbits in a 320-day cycle. It is the primary source of heat and daylight for the system and as such is the primary factor for seasonal change on Milios.

Ser, Mabel \SAER, MAY-bell\ NPC, Basafield

1. Halfling Female. A Young woman working as an independent Lawyer in Basafield. Appears to have an intimate knowledge of the politics in Basafield and harbors negative opinions of the Constable, Delacent Camos, and his methods.

Shiliport Massacre \SHIL-eh-port...\ Event, Historical

1. A mass killing of civilians by a group of unknown agents that occurred approximately around 230 RE. It is a significant event in Osmia's history and is remembered by many of the older generations, but it is not necessarily common knowledge among younger Osmians. The event had a profound impact on the nation and its people, leading to a number of reforms and stricter regulations on the military to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.

Shining Light Temple Location, Fiery Peaks

1. A temple to Aeosa located high up in the Fiery Peaks. A towering structure of stained glass edged with gold, that shines like a beacon from Baylam's Pass to the Sylth deadlands.

Silent Necrosis Nature, Condition

1. An ancient disease that nearly eliminated the entire population of Kaherr during the Age of Wandering. Known by the party to occur when Milkroot absorbs Draconic Blood. This then produces purple fungal blooms that burst, releasing a pathogen that infects a host creature.

Silver Company Organization, Internal

1. One of the three organizational divisions of Crystal Deep Mining Co. North Branch. Operates the South Mine in Basafield. Currently on leave due to shutdowns at the South mine. Supervised by Sinoh Elwin.

Syneis \SIGH-neese\ Celestial Body

1. The dull brown-bodied star that produces a dramatically smaller amount of heat and light. It is the second of two stars in a binary star system around which Milios orbits in a 320-day cycle.
