Spirit trees

One of the most distinguished features of Spiritgroves at the surface is the spirit trees, which have grown in the energy of the grove, and such, become little extra special themselves.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Spirit trees themselves look mostly like most trees occupying the area where the grove stands, was it willow, oak, fir, spruce or palm - but they differ with their lush, sometimes otherworldly colors, long life span, sometimes the enormous size and ethereal glow.   Whispering Willow in Silver Shore Island is one example of a spirit tree in Spiritgrove: This massive Willow has grown large enough to encompass the whole grove, and has diameter of 60 m (~197 ft), approximated circumference of 190 m (~620 ft) and compassing area of 2800 m2 (~ 30 430 ft2). This willow is entirely hollow, fitting inside several smaller trees of it's kind.   The plants may also attract spirits and wildlife and produce more harvest. They can also spring out more life and fuse with plants around them.

Ecology and Habitats

Spirit trees exist as part of Spiritgroves all around the world, as long as there is any type of tree existing in the area. The nature of these magical meeting places warps the nature around them, feeding anything that grows in the close proximate of them.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Spirit trees are rarely disturbed because of the presence of the area. However, bits and pieces of these plants can be used, when gifted by the grove, to do wonderful things. Stealing from grove will cause it to attack the intruder, and any stolen piece of wood is rendered useless.   However, if one would get permission from the Grove to get some of the wood, there are several things it can be used for. The bark of spirit trees is particularly light and sturdy: while possible to carve, it can't be broken, and might come with magical effects associated to it. Leaves and sap have far more potent effects when used to make poisons or healing potions, in some cases the sap might even close small wounds. Branches are immune to fire and can be planted elsewhere, sprouting a brand new tree on their place in mere 24 hours.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Spirit trees are good hiding places for creatures like dryads, and many wild animals are attracted to them. It is notable, that carnivorous creatures seem to lose any desire to kill other creature in close range of spirit trees.

Colourful magical trees! Thats one of the coolest things I’ve ever read about! I love reading about magical objects and just reading about magical trees with ethereal colours makes me want to jump into a video game rn XD. This was an amazing article to read and I’ll try my best to leave a good comment!   1) First of all, I just adore the concept itself. Magical trees are my jam and you manage to write them spectacularly! I really do want to see more articles about magic in this world, it simply sounds like an interactive massive video game I want to dive into!   2) Secondly, you manage to get most of the aspects of the prompt across really well! The information is well written and combined with your amazing and magical CSS as I’d like to call it, and the concept In itself being amazing , that was enough to hook me in!   Now onto the critique part. As always, you’ve managed to write an amazing article which leaves little to be critiqued, but I shall try my best to do so!   1) First of all, it gets confusing in some places. In the beginning of the article , you say spiritgrove but quite a lot of times, you only write the grove. I think that adding spiritgrove here would clear up a lot of the confusion!   2) Have people ever tried to steal the sap from the trees? The article Says that only stolen wood is rendered useless, so I was curious to know If this was the same case for the sap of the trees.   3) Have people ever tried to discover the origin of these trees?   Overall, I’d say this was another amazing, short and Incredibly inspiring article from you! Reading your articles has recently made me very inspired and cracked a major writers block of mine, so I can hopefully go back to writing soon. But I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for inspiring me with your amazing and inspiring articles! As always, congrats Tiiri and keep up the amazing work! Wishing you great success in worldbuilding in the future!
