Jonder-family recipes

In the kitchen of the Allie's Bread & Bakery, there is a curious tome of baked delicacies. This is Allie Jonder's copy of the Jonder-family recipe book, that looks more like a spellbook. That is not actually far from the truth, as the physical book itself ( one that the recipes are written) was a gift from her husband.
This personal cookbook is full of secret family recipes but has a good peek into interesting fusion kitchen of the Silver Shore Island.

Purpose

The original version of the recipe book was started by Allie's great-great-great-grandfather Trevor Jonder, to keep track of their recipes. It was originally collection of freyn recipes of the time, but because of colorful and diverse population of the island, it has started to form to more general taste of islanders and also branch in to more exotic recipes. These recipes are bread and butter (pun intended) of the family business and been key to the business's success.

Background

Jonder family is believed to be freynian by roots, but has been living in Silver Shore Island for several generations. In a diverse environment their recipes have developed to reflect that, taking a page from elvish, dwarfish, halfling and gnome cuisines, and their different ways to make bread, cakes and other baked goods.

History

Jonder-family has been bakers for last 5 generations, holding originally their home bakery at Millstone village in Silver Shore Island. Recipe book, or version of it has been passed from generation to another, perfecting the recipes and imagining new ones to create the best of baked goods.
This particular copy was made from a copy that Allie Jonder got from her parents in her wedding day, including all the recipes owned by her father, Harrie Jonder, as she started her own business in Moon Terrace after the wedding. The book was subjected to a few typical kitchen mishaps and then sneakily stolen by Allie's husband Dezzner before her 45th birthday. Concerned of his wife's struggle to make out some of the smudged recipes, Dezzner took it to himself to get an enchanted spell-book (made to resistant of liquid, fiery or other mishaps), and copied all the recipes to the book and gave it to his wife as a birthday gift.
The new improved cookbook has then been filled further by Allie as well as her parents and later, also her firstborn son Zato, whom will likely inherit the book from his mother as the time comes, as he is the most likely candidate to continue his mother's trade.

Public Reaction

Jonder's are very celebrated by their craft, and their recipes are part of this success. Their products taste unique like Silver Shore and the complex culture of the land, taking the best aspects of each type of cuisine to make tasty treats. As such, Allie's Bread & Bakery is the most famous bakery in whole city.

Jonder-family recipes

Cardamom buns

• 5 dl of milk
• Yeast
• 2 eggs
• 5 ml of salt
• 150 ml of sugar
• 30 ml of vanilla sugar
• 16 ml of cardamom
• 1,3 l of flour
• 175 g of margarine (used melted)

1. Add yeast to warm milk, appropriately to the type of yeast you are using.
2. Add eggs, salt, sugar, and cardamom to milk and mix well.
3. Slowly add flour and melted margarine, alternating between the two constantly mixing well.
4. Knead the dough nice and bendy and let it rest for 1 hour.
5. Make the dough into buns, egg them and put sugar on top and let them sit a minute.
6. Bake in the 200C until golden brown.

"Oi, what do you think you are doing in mother's kitchen?"
Before you get further and turn a page, you lift your gaze from the book and turn around, your eyes meeting with reddish-brown eyes of muscular half-drow youth, who looks at you intently. His light blond curls are endearing, yet he looks very un-amused by your trespassing.
"The counter is THAT way", he tells politely, "the muffins are on discount. Got confused with the door hmm? So be it... for now. but next time, I need to tell father. Alright?... Thought so. ... Thank you for your purchase. Come again and have a nice day."
