Shalabinth Forest
The Shalabinth Forest, a vast and ancient woodland located in the north-western regions of Aetheria, is a realm of mystique and wonder. Steeped in elven history and magic, this forest is renowned for its lush greenery, towering trees, and an aura of enchantment that permeates the very air. It's a land where nature and magic coalesce seamlessly, giving rise to a unique and captivating ecosystem.
Geography
The Shalabinth forest is an old-growth forest with primarily broadleaf trees in the central and southern regions, transitioning to coniferous evergreen trees in the northern regions. At its southernmost tip the forest is overtaken by the Howling Wood in Runeheart.
Ecosystem
The combination of natural processes and magical waste introduced by centuries of conflict have left their mark on the Shalabinth Forest. Native animals compete with magical beasts for food, and those who stray too far from the defined paths may find themselves in the clutches of the Fey who inhabit the wilderness. The portions in Runeheart are occasionally menaced by roving packs of undead animated by the fell forces left behind, and even the very plants have been known to animate to defend themselves or feed on the unwary.
