Explorer's Guide to Life at Home

By Darosi the Explorer

When first we set sail onto the skies we were the only vessel in the air and everything was new. As time wore on the skies near home seemed smaller and there were more and more ships. As the Feathermen brought people closer together without moving them, we shrunk the sky. The beauty though, is that the sky continues on endlessly in every direction.
"You remind me of a child. In a good way." -Ryza Chavosi to Darosi
Sometimes it feels as though you have seen it all, each day holds no new adventures and no amazing discoveries. This is something that children never experience and it doesn't have to be something adults do either. On my travels I have learned not just that there are intriguing, dangerous, and wondrous things out there but that they are at home as well.   Each new flower I see on faraway islands may hold the key to curing an ailment at home but just as likely are the flowers at home, prepared differently, to do the same. There is always something hidden in plain sight, the farmer knows something you don't, the path in the woods go somewhere new, and you might have a dormant interest.
"Throw away your fear and just do it." -Ryza Chavosi
Everywhere I go the people have one thing in common; everyone has overcome hardship or is in the process of overcoming hardship. Each day more things than you will ever know about happen to more people than you will ever meet. Happy things, weddings, festivals, love. Sad things, deaths, injury, heartbreak. As an explorer, it was hard to come to terms with all the things I am missing until Ryza told me we are defined not only by the things we know and do but by the things that we do not.   From the Great Dam of Darapur to the invention of skyships people have overcome all sorts of obstacles and importantly they overcame the obstacles by working together

Regions

During my time spent ashore at home, I like to experience the different areas of the island. My travels have only deepened my appreciation for these regions.
Bral
Moderately sized nation ruled by an Emperor. They have a powerful industry boosted by Imperial decrees, a military of immense skill, and the Skyknights.
Grara
A large nation with diverse populations, languages, and cultures. This collection of near-autonomous regions is an economic powerhouse. Their trade networks are unparalleled and their food and material production among the highest per capita.
The Orthlands
This low population area is extremely large and contains some of the friendliest people I have ever met. There are few permanent settlements and most of those are on the Graran border. Animals are very important to their way of life.
Zinato Region
Collection of individual cities driven by trade along the rivers. Darapur is the largest of these cities and the center of learning on the island. Soksu is the next largest city but the cultural monolith of the region.
