Soane

Soane is the capital of the Kingdom of Urtheon. It is located at the western shore of lake Eliath just north of where the river of the same name exits the lake.

Districts

Soane is structured into several parts:

The Castle

One is the Castle Soanis itself, the castle that was built on an artificial island in the lake.

The Old Town

The Old Town is, as the name suggests, the oldest part of the city. It stands where the old wooden fortress of House Soanis used to stand before the castle in the lake was built. Nowadays, it is the most important district, largely due to the other parts being abandoned after the Great War.

The Markets

The markets are located towards the south of Soane, near the river Eliath. Back when Urtheon was a wealthier Kingdom than it is today and Soane was thriving, the markets were a bustling part of town, but after Urtheon's loss of the Great War resulted in the Kingdom losing access to much of its silver and iron ressources, the markets were closed and have since been mostly abandoned.

The New Town

The New Town is also partially abandoned today, since it was home to many merchants, who moved away after the markets were closed.

Architecture

The architecture of Soane is rather diverse. The Old Town was built during and shortly after acadean times and is therefore influenced by late acadean architecture. The Markets and the New Town were built much later and therefore in a different style. The castle on the other hand is its own thing altogether.

Geography

Soane is located on the shore of Lake Eliath, a very large freshwater lake in the nothern Silver Mountains. While the lake can be considered part of the mountains, Soane itself is located on the flat terrain at the western shore of the lake.
