Teriat river

The Teriat river is a huge river branching off from the great Teriat lake of Dirn, which is fed rain water by a group of wizards and spell casters. In order for the river to cross from Dirn over to the continent of Kaelia a huge canal in the sky was built known as the Teriat Canal. The river is the largest on Laeriss and provides the invaluable resource of fresh water and fish to people all over the Derinian woodlands and the The Kaelian plains.

Some history

Originally the Teriat river was fed by the north Zerion Mountains of Derolis, the derolian Teriat river still runs through Derolis, now called the Nes' Kera river. Unfortunately after the split water from Derolis could no longer reach the Teriat rivers of Dirn and Kaelia, so the wizards of Oleque decided they would use magic to make the rain collect over the Teriat lake to fuel the rivers water supply.

Geography

The Teriat river is the largest, longest, and most expansive of all the rivers on Laeriss. The Teriat lake, which feeds the river through the magic of the wizards of Oleque, is located on Dirn but via the giant, continent-bridging Teriat Canal the river crosses two entire continents. It winds through the The Kaelian plains and Derinian woodlands, passing the farming town of Fodon, the city of Kemler, and ending in the north-eastern area of Kaelia, its other main end is near the northern edge of Dirn.

Fauna & Flora

The Teriat river is full of wild fresh water, river dwelling fish, not found in many other places. The waters are clean and healthy, giving life to animals and plants near it as it winds all through Laeriss and sustaining a rich eco-system of aquatic plants and animals in its waters. Because of the water aquatic plants like kelp grow on its floor attracting fresh water fish which by extension feed animals like bears and are fished by people as well.

Natural Resources

The Teriat river is rich in fresh water fish for a fisherman looking to make some cash. Fresh water crustaceans like cray fish also reside in the waters which can be a treat for a farmer fishing on his free time or a profitable business for ones livelihood. In the aftermath of the split a good supply of fresh, clean water is not as easy to come by as it used to be so water from the Teriat river is a valuable resource for nearby towns, cities, farms, natural ecosystems, and animal keepers.
