Derinian woodlands

The Derinian woodlands are often called the greatest place on Laeriss for a lumberjack because that they are so rich in usable wood. Wild animals and game scurry all across the forest, unaware of a hunter hiding in wait. The clouds look like giant fluffy white pillows floating through the sky. During each season the forest undergoes a huge change, starting colorful and lively in the spring, to green and hot in the summer, to shades of orange and brown in the fall, to appearing as if it was completely dead in the winter but just waiting to come back next year. Folks out in the woodlands live quiet and simple lives as lumberjacks and hunters but it is a peaceful life so many hermits live alone in the expanse. It covers almost all of Dirn and the massive Teriat lake and Teriat river are located within the woodlands, the river branches off many times into the woods, called the branches of Padalor.

Geography

The woodlands are flat in some places up to high hills in others, there are sparse mountains which are quite short, usually these areas will also be surrounded with high hills, though many other areas are very flat and open. The Teriat river runs through the middle of the woodlands, providing fresh water to everything near it with its many small branching rivers, called the branches of Padalor. From on top of the taller hills and mountains the trees form a giant field of green *or brown depending on the season* sheet of trees going over the horizon, the clouds of the Derinian woodlands are said to be some of the most beautiful you can find anywhere.

Fauna & Flora

The Derinian woodlands are filled with many common trees scattered across the huge amount of land it occupies. It is a great habitat for all kinds of forest and woodland animals, squirrels, deer, and bears live all over. Millions of birds build nests in the great branches of the trees. The Teriat river running through is filled with all kinds of fish and the environment is perfectly in balance. The seasons of the woodlands are also quite pronounced and you can see the changes clearly with every different season that passes on Laeriss.

Natural Resources

The Derianian woodlands are called lumberjacks paradise because that they are incredibly rich in accessible, and useful lumber all over. They are not too dense to travel and the wood is simple and perfect for any type of construction, the most common profession for somebody living in the middle of the woodlands is to be a lumberjack, Xports incorporated also has a large part in the lumber operations of the forest, though there are restrictions put on them by The Kaeslaran Dominion. The woodlands are also incredibly rich in animals with valuable pelts and other parts, like the antlers of deer. For a hermit living in the middle of the woods they could also survive off just the berries, wild fruit, and very extensive population of game to survive.
