Padalor

The Sun Lord

"Now listen here, there's a lot of bad in the world, a whole lot of it actually. We got these Infernal Denomination scoundrels and these awful evil doers but always know that ol' Padalor will never wrong you cause' he is a god of kindness, and light, and love in its true form, none o' that fake trash or pretendin' here."
-Shay Turgas, priest of Padalor
Padalor is a good god of crops and the sun, he is very appealing to a broad variety of people so he is the most commonly-worshiped god on Laeriss. While he is actually only the true god of humans and halflings, people of almost every race worship him. Nearly every major city or town has a church of Padalor, his holiday Solitias is the most commonly celebrated in the world, and symbols of Padalor are pretty much unavoidable. While Padalor is the most morally good of all the gods, he encourages his followers to strike down all evil and convert people to being part of The celestial order, or better, his own religion. Followers of Padalor are most commonly farmers, soldiers, or workers and sometimes they can be very intense when it comes to "The flames of purity."

Divine Domains

Padalor represents the sun, warmth, crops, fire, farming, righteousness, humans, and halflings. He represents the cultivation of life with light as well as the flames of justice. Since he is a farming god many farmers and people in farming villages of course follower him but it is not just simply farmers, after all Padalor is the most worshiped god on Laeriss.

Holy Books & Codes

The holy book of Padalor is called "The Book of Sol" and is a large tomb bearing the symbol of Padalor on its cover. It is filled with creation myths about the origin of Laeriss and the planarverse, stories about followers of Padalor, legends about angels and celestial beings, usually these stories have the moral of: follow Padalor and also evil is bad. Followers of Padalor love to quote The Book of Sol wherever they go even when talking to people who they know don't follow him.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The divine sigil of Padalor is a sun made up of triangles with two stalks of grain framing it. It is the best known divine symbol and followers of Padalor place it everywhere, if you go to any farming village you will most likely find a flag bearing this symbol. Paladins of Padalor are pretty recognizable since they have his symbol usually imprinted on their breastplate. Buildings funded by the church of Padalor will often have his symbol stamped one or multiple times on the building.

Tenets of Faith

The rules of Padalor as described in the book of sol are:
-You shall show love for all who you meet unless they are followers of the darkness.
-Feed your family, your friends, and all who hunger except those who follow the darkness.
-Tend to the world and do your duty and the world shall provide.
-Seek to stop those who are followers of darkness.
-Make all one under the undying sun, for its heat reaches all people.

Holidays

The holiday of Padalor is called Solitias, it is a day of celebration, harvest and song. As Padalor is the most worshiped god on Laeriss, Solitias naturally became the most widespread holiday on Laeriss. Expedited by the fact that followers of Padalor can be a bit pushy about their faith and also like to crusade so Solitias spread pretty fast as a holiday. Solitias takes place on the summer solstice every year, during this day there is usually a big festival where people celebrate the day. Since Solitias often takes place in marketplaces or on streets, not all people who participate in Solitias follow Padalor or are even are part of The celestial order at all.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

The goals of Padalor are to rid the world of hunger, anger, cruelty, evil, and to convert people to following him. Padalor is a good god, wishing that those who support the suffering, pain, or death of others shall be cleansed, much like most other gods he wants people to worship him. So while Padalor is a good aligned god, probably the most good aligned god, he also desires for people to stop worshiping the other gods and follow him instead.

Physical Description

Body Features

Padalor would have olive colored skin but his skin appears more brown because of his strong tan which never fades. Padalor is around medium height for a god with a fairly average build, though while his appearance is not imposing he will still burn you to a crisp in an instant if he deems you evil. Most of his body is usually always covered up by great golden full plate armor so don't expect to ever see a depiction of him without it in any church.

Facial Features

Padalor has a quite gentle face which is not very imposing with soft eyes and his often his trademark smile. Though he will turn on you in an instant if you pledge yourself to any kind of evil deity or force. His beard is very impressive, reaching down all the way to his torso past his neck. In contrast to his beard the top of his head is completely lacking in hair.

Identifying Characteristics

The most identifying features of Padalor are his impressive beard and bald head as well as his great golden armor which shines unnaturally bright. Another slightly notable feature of his is of course his perfectly tanned golden skin which never loses its color.

The Church of Padalor

The Church of Padalor is the leader of the five which make up The celestial order as Padalor is the most good-aligned of the gods without much thought for law or chaos. Though often the Church is noted as having a bit of a superiority complex over the other four since they are technically "above" the others. Yet as nice as their morals are in theory they do not have an appreciation for any other religions and especially dislike the church of Them, The Noble Creed, The Anarchic Faith, and of course The Infernal Denomination. If you are not a part of the church of Padalor expect that there is a good chance if a devoted follower talks to you they will try to convert you, if you are not a part of The celestial order accept that you may have followers of Padalor give you bad looks or think less of you, and if you are a part of The Infernal Denomination expect for "The Flames of Purity" to be burning you on a regular basis around followers of Padalor. The Ember Knights are the warriors of Padalor, they are the most powerful and ferocious of Padalor's followers. While the Ember Knights are not inherently bad people, they are certainly the most intense disciples of the flame god. Churches of Padalor are usually tall buildings made out of stone and wood with just one or a few rooms. The most notable is the large hall usually with its walls containing stained glass windows, the hall is entered by the front doors of the church which are usually quite grand. Within the hall are pews leading up to the front where the priest's podium stands, the buildings themselves usually have triangular roofs.

Followers of Padalor

The followers of Padalor are usually not too extreme, sure they very much dislike The Infernal Denomination but so do most other people. Most of his followers are just normal people who care about good, their families, and kindness. This said, many of his followers can be very extreme and very devout zealots. Often followers of Padalor will go to extreme lengths to purge evil and convert people who follow other gods to the church of Padalor. They usually get more forceful the less good aligned your god is, they may be mean if you follow Aenoa yet even ruder if you follow Darrünn even though they are both not Infernal Denomination gods, Darrünn is just a bit less good aligned than Aenoa so they will treat you worse. The biggest thing with the zealots of Padalor is taking the rule within The Book of Sol which says, "Make all one under the undying sun, for its heat reaches all people," and construing that as saying all minorities or people who are different should be cleansed. Even Padalor himself does not always approve of the extreme lengths gone through by his more "devoted" followers. While most followers of Padalor are perfectly nice people, keep in mind that if you follow a god not part of The celestial order to keep away from those who talk a bit too much about "The Flames of Purity."
