Teriat lake

The Teriat lake is one, if not the largest, source of fresh water in all of Laeriss. Originally the lake was filled through the Teriat river coming from the mountains of Derolis but after the split now the Teriat lake is responsible for feeding the Teriat rivers branching off it, leading to The Kaelian plains and the Derinian woodlands. The lake stays full via a group of many wizards and spell casters from the town of Oleque who use their magic to coalesce rainclouds over the Teriat lake, refilling it and providing water for the Teriat rivers. The lake itself is filled with a thriving ecosystem of fish, marine plants, crustaceans, and all sorts of great bounties tapped into by the fishermen of Oleque and nearby settlements.

Geography

The Teriat lake is the biggest lake on all of Laeriss. It is located in the Derinian woodlands, with the town of Oleque located right on it. It is one of the biggest sources of fresh water that there is and provides as much as is needed by the town of Oleque and nearby life. It is very deep and near impossible for a normal human to swim to the very bottom of the lake. The Teriat lake is also very beautiful, during the day it sparkles blue, at dusk it turns shades of beautiful orange and pink, and at night the view of the stars is superb.

The Teriat lake is home to thousands of fresh water fish which are said to be unique to the Teriat lake and not found anywhere else in the world. Under the water an incredible eco-system thrives at the bottom of the lake, filled with kelp and algae feeding small fish, being eaten by bigger fish. Bottom feeders and shellfish eat what they can find off the ground and clean up the lake. Freshwater eels hide in the crevices of rocks, surprising unsuspecting passerby fish. Meanwhile every day fishermen go out to the lake and tap just a small portion of the bounties which it has to offer.

Natural Resources

As mentioned before the Teriat lake is a treasure trove of thousands of fish, shellfish, eels, and creatures only native to its depths, just waiting to be fished up and sold for a large profit. Many fisherman make their silver off the fish of the Teriat lake. The lake is one of the biggest sources of fresh, clean, water in the entire world. After the split, a supply of freshwater this big is rare and the people of Oleque see it as a great blessing to them. The lake is also filled with quite valuable usable clay, commonly made into a variety of goods or bricks by the people of Oleque.
