Doroinir Nimloth

"Our nation will never fall, my children. It was mighty in the time of our ancestors. It was mighty after they were gone. It is mighty now, even if humanity has not recognized this yet. One day, the elves will rule and all will recognize their betters for what we are; the rightful owners of this world. We were the First. We are the Eternal!"   ~Aran Darcassan Elasandoral, King of the Elves.

Structure

The elflands are a feudal monarchy with a firm adherence to the Three Estates. An aran presides over a complex heirarchy of lords and nobility that filter his commands to the commonfolk. The aran is advised by a harem of concubines and priests with their own hierarchies in place.

Public Agenda

The policy of Doroinir Nimloth is to facilitate trade with other elf kingdoms, promote Demiurgery, and see to the survival of the elves. They also support The Noblewhite Alliance.

Assets

Wealth Score: 12d6.   1 major city (Doroinir Nimloth) 2 minor cities. 4 border forts.

Demography and Population

The bulk of the continent's High Elves live in the capital that gives the kingdom it's name. The other two cities, Animor and Llothlon, are likewise dominated by High Elves. Wood Elves live in the more rural areas, with those found in the slums and tenements of the elven cities being more often referred to as Low Elves. The coastal and port towns are dominated by Sea Elves both on land and beneath the shallows. A small and usually transient population of Blood Elves dwindles gradually, finding a place here and there where they can.

Territories

Doroinir Nimloth is a city-state. The capital that bears its name sits in the oldest part of the Elfwood, which the elves also refer to as Doroinir Nimloth or Landa-Nimloth (Great White Wood). The borders of the kingdom are the borders of the forest, a fact that Archmage Dulacar strictly enforces. Along the coast, the Sea Elves manage and ply the waters, sending out trade vessels to other elvish kingdoms on other continents as well as subaquatic hunting parties.

Military

The Elves maintain a standing army of the line supplemented by light infantry partisans. They are supported by a navy. The rigid class-race-caste system of the elves means that the first is almost entirely High Elves, the partisans are usually Wood Elves and the vast majority of the navy is operated by Sea Elves. Blood Elves with a demonstrated control over their Blood Frenzy are sometimes welcomed although never trusted.

Religion

The airimossë are the country's priesthood and judicial system. They have a Bishop who oversees the church bureaucracy and settles matters of ecclesiastical law. The Nym Cathedral maintains the oldest copy of the Canticles of the Demiurge on the continent, which is jealously guarded by the Bishop and never read by anyone beneath that post. A veritable beehive of priests, clerics, deacons, scribes and monks fulfill all of the tasks of the Second Estate.

Foreign Relations

Doroinir is a founding member of the The Noblewhite Alliance, though their ambassadors are not shy about the elvish belief that the alliance is a hegemony and they expect compliance.   They are technically at war with Uzgilbat but it has been a long time since either tried to outright invade the other.

Agriculture & Industry

While the Wood Elves hunt the bountiful forests and the Sea Elves ply the waters, the High Elves of the cities have a more exotic food source: through the Quende Fendassë, there exists a vast orchard overseen by a mysterious Archfey known as the Abominable.   The elves do not manufacture on any real scale. The creation of their products is an individual art by craftsmen who have had time to find their true calling and master it. Every elf product is hand made, of high quality and absolutely beautiful to behold. Elf goods are prized among nobles of other races, even if just for display.

Trade & Transport

The Sea Elves run the navy, both the merchant fleet and the military fleet. They build their ships out of coral, glass and seashells. They have the fastest vessels, able to skim the water with ease on the slightest breeze.

Education

Formal academies exist in every settlement that focus-educates young elves in their future lives. Talents are identified as early as possible and useful interests are encouraged and rewarded. Elves spend up to seventy years in various institutions, depending on their aptitudes.

Infrastructure

Doroinir Nimloth is bisected by the Forest Road, an ancient highway built through the forest by the La'shei out of unknown materials. Off of this main branch, footpaths extend to various settlements or points of interest.
