Dekko Lang was born to a wealthy gemcutter family. The Langs are a legacy in the Stonecutters Society, and Dekko inherited his family's natural talents. He was considered a prodigy, and had completed several masterpiece level gems even before his Becoming.
His Becoming was a simple affair, and rumors forever persist that his father had bought off the Deminite priest giving his geas to make it safe. He was tasked with delivering a diamond worth ten thousand gold for the Deminite coffers. Rather than leave Krezzym to find it, he proved his skill and simply cut a large raw diamond with all of the skill that he could muster. He delivered a diamond worth exactly the price requested in three days, a feat that the Stonecutters Society agreed would also serve as his masterpiece.
After this display, he was assigned to Sacqueline as the guild's representative. This meant that he replaced the previous representative as mayor, and has overseen production there ever since.
