Sigilstone Hellgate

Purpose / Function

The true reason for the gateway's sudden existance is unkown, though it is speculated from the odd control pannel and it's many distinguished and sensless buttons that it is serves some form of transportation function and that different codes can be used to open path's to different worlds. However if this would be true, it doesn't entierly make sense with the fact that it has never been activated and nothing has ever passed through it.

Architecture

The Hellgate consists of what can only be described as four long steel tentacles. Two different half circles that are made from two tentacles that slither up from the ground, twining around each others before the tip of the four meet at the middle to spread almost like a flower, which holds up a gem that looks like a large drop of blood. The base of the structure is made from some odd metal alloy which shines a colour mix between black and green and seems to be completely indestructable.

History

The history of the gate is shrouded by unkown forces. This is the infamously vague line which has been recorded by the Greydwarves specify. Nobody really knows how it appeared in Vithrine, but it has been there since before the Devils came and got crushed by their machinery.   It's said that the region of Sigilstone was once a peninsula with lush green fields with pouring fresh water rivers that gave it life. Then one day all of a sudden a crimson black mist appeared from nowhere and suddenly organic materia just appeared from the ground, sucking the life from everything in it's nearby region to leave only a gray crust once the gateway had finished forming.   At first, the inhabitants were clueless, but since the city of Koalholme lied so close it became an immediate concern. Half of what was once the Graymare region had suddenly up and gone to what they only could describe as hell. Nor could they blame the Vampyr for half of the Graymare capital's land lost, as they were just as concerned as themselves, even though it's consequences technically didn't affect them. Yet.   Then came the Devils, rather fashionably for the sudden appearance of the gate, which is how it was named Hellgate. Seeing as the Vampyr came to ally all suddenly with the Devils, the Greydwarves became suspicious, so once they heard about the forces of hell they instantly mounted an offensive to get to the bottom of the conspiracy. It wasn't untill after their victory that they beat it out of their opponents that they had no idea what the gate was, but that it clearly was a far greater threat to all of them, than one another. Thus, reasoning that further conquest and insurrection would do nothing but play right into the hand of the unkown forces, they agreed on a truce and the Greydwarves joined hell's alliance.   Together, they came up with warpforging which would serve as a key instrument in the transformation of the old topside colony into what became known as Sigilstone Fortress.
