Salmon P. Chase

Salmon P. Chase was an American Politician who served as the sixteenth Chancellor of America from 1870 to 1873. During his tenure, he attempted to increase American involvement in the Cuban War for Independence. However, by the time of his tenure, Gran Colombia had largely taken the island, and the endeavor was seen as too costly. He did help establish the Grand Duchy of Central America following the Mexican Revolutionary War. He also fought for the induction of Yucatan and Rio Grande's admittance to the Kingdom of America. He did attempt to work with King Edward I to acquire the territory of Russian America, but was eventually outbid by the Republic of Oregon. Much like his predecessor, he died during his re-election campaign, leaving the office vacant until the election.
