Republic of Yucatan

The Republic of Yucatan was a short lived nation following the Mexican Revolutionary War.

History

During the Mexican Revolutionary War, Yucatan formed from the states of Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Campeche from the Empire of Mexico. The Republic was declared on the outset of the war, being isolated from much of the fighting between the Republic of Mexico and the Republic of Rio Grande. Peace agreements were signed in Astoria.

Disbandment

After the War, Yucatan attempted to quell insurrections from the native populations, briefly being overthrown by a rebellion. To restore order, the Yucatan government in exile negotiated their annexation into the Kingdom of America.
