Mexican Revolutionary War

The Mexican Revolutionary War was a major conflict that occurred after the fall of the First Mexican Empire and the assassination of Emperor Vicente II. The conflict ended indecisively, leading to the declaration of multiple states.

The Conflict

Prelude

In 1865, Emperor Vicente II was executed along with most of his family, including Empress Maria, daughter of King William I of America.

Outcome

Negotiations began in early 1871, being held in Astoria. Though a formal resolution could not be reached to keep the republica together. The Republics of the Rio Grande and Yucatan, as well as several states in Central America. Rio Grande established a liberal federalized government, while Mexico established a conservative unitarian government.

Aftermath

Yucatan government was eventually overthrown in a native rebellion. A new government was established under native and mixed race ethnic lines. In order to re-establish order, Yucatan calls for American aid in exchnge for offering to be an American territory.

The states of Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador were united under the Grand Duchy of Central America, with Miguel as Grand Duke. Guatemala declined to join the Grand Duchy and retained its independence under a republican government. Costa Rica joined Gran Colombia.
