Maria

Empress

Maria Josephine Anna Elizabeth von Lexington was Princess of America, the daughter and eldest child of King William I and Queen Ana, and the sister of Edward, Andrew, and Sophia. In 1849, she married Emperor Vicente II of Mexico, becoming Empress consort. She was executed along with most of the Imperial Family in the Republican Revolution in 1865, with only her youngest son, Miguel, surviving. Her death caused the Kingdom of America to declare war on the Republican government and the brief installation of Miguel as Emperor.
