Vanquisher
Vanquishers are those employed by the Mortal Protection Agency, or MPA, to vanquish beings who are a danger to the mortal world. These dangers are typically demons that need to be directed away from their current harmful activities by being sent to Hell temporarily. Upon regaining Earth, most demons do not return to their previous activities.
Career
Qualifications
In order to be hired as a Vanquisher with the Mortal Protection Agency, one must be either a Fallen angel or a demon with a proven history of doing good by the mortal world. On rare occasions other beings such as Hellhounds or Vampires may be hired, but as it is possible for these beings to be killed, the MPA usually avoids hiring them for such a dangerous position.
Payment & Reimbursement
All vanquishers are reimbursed for expenses incurred in the process of vanquishing threats to the mortal world. These expenses typically include improved weapons and food for energy. In addition to this, vanquishers are paid a nominal fee for each beings vanquished, and are often permitted to take items of value from the vanquished being's home/lair/collection/stash.
Other Benefits
As employees of the MPA, vanquishers have full access to the MPA benefits package that includes assistance with banking, housing, and meeting energy needs. Vanquishers can also choose someone from the MPA to look after their residences and personal items if they are vanquished by an intended target. This ensures the vanquishers things are looked after in the mortal realm until they can return.
Perception
History
When the Mortal Protection Agency was founded in 1866, it was decided that there was a need for those who had the skill to vanquish problematic demons. The position of vanquisher was established at the very foundation of the MPA to meet this need. It has continued to be a vital part of the MPA's work ever since.
Operations
Workplace
Vanquishers work in a variety of environments, from offices to roadways to wooded spaces. Wherever there is a being that needs to be Vanquished, a vanquisher will do their job. They will go anywhere their services are required, regardless of the remoteness of the location or the nation they need to enter.
Provided Services
Vanquishers are called in to vanquish a demon or other being who is doing harm to the mortal world. Sometimes they are asked to investigate known demons to determine if they are truly causing harm and need to be vanquished. They do this instead of other investigators when there is concern that the demon might attack the investigator should they be discovered.
Dangers & Hazards
With each job there is the real possibility that the vanquisher themself may be the one vanquished, depending on the strength of the demon or being they are sent to deal with. This is the reason vanquishers are almost exclusively Fallen angels, as they will return from being vanquished to Hell after spending a few months recovering.
