The Dragonborn Civil War

A component part of the Year of the Dragon, the Dragonborn Civil War was urged on at the behest of the White Dragon Aenophentari. From what is known now, he spent years building trust with the Whitescale Dragonborn clans of Draconfall, promising them a return to glory if they followed him. Many clans began to "vanish" as they marshaled their strength for war.   When the time came, the Whitescale's emerged from hiding and overwhelmed several western Dragonborn clans in short order. Many fled or were turned into servants of the Whitescales. The war seemed a foregone conclusion as few clans would unite to face the threat, until the arrival of Norixius Sorra Day Dreamer, who had been gone from her country for a few years now.   Sorra soon began uniting the clans, and putting up a much more dogged defense of their territory. But even so, the Whitescale's had the support of automatons built by Thoramir of Virnos and advanced cannons bought in from Jarak, putting the united clans at a disadvantage.   Sorra managed to negotiate for help from The Wayfarers and their alliance, leading to the penultimate Battle of the Colors, where a combined force of non-whitescale Dragonborn, Strakan military forces, and Tarkus utterly smashed the Whitescales, ending the civil war in short order.

The Conflict

Prelude

It is now known that the last White Dragon, Aenophentari, personally appealed the various White Dragonborn clans. He promised them a return to greatness hailing back to the days when the dragons and dragonborn worked together. They soon began to vanish, not telling the other clans where they were going and gathering in the foot of the northern mountains to prepare for their attack.

The Engagement

When the Whitescales attacked they did so with ferocity, with the aid of automatons and cannons provided by Aenophentari and Thoramir they were essentially unstoppable to the disparate clans of Draconfall. Clans Norixious and Patrium tried to form a comprehensive defense, but found themselves still outnumbered and at a technological disadvantage.   This turned around slightly with the return of Norixius Sorra Day Dreamer, who managed to unite even more of the Dragonborn clans and put together a more comprehensive strategy with the help of her father and Niah. Despite this though, the war was still not in their favor.   Sorra traveled to The Wayfarers council at Olbern and managed to plead successfully for help in exchange for joining the Tharrisan War after the civil war was done, which she agreed to. Straka, too far from Tharrisia to be of any use, agreed to come to the aid of the Dragonborn.   Some border forces were able to immediately cross into Draconfall under general Sued Saheli and join the non-whitescale dragonborn. On the eve of a potentially disastrous battle, Tarkus arrived via airship to help.   The next day, Tarkus took the skies in his dragon form during the battle, and caused such destruction and chaos amongst the White Dragonborn that the battle began to swing to the advantage of the non-whitescales and the Strakan's. Even when he decided to take his Kobold form again, several soldiers accounts point to a combined magical assault by him, Sorra, and Niah being so devastating it nearly broke the whitescale lines then and there.   The final piece of the battle came when Strakan light cavalry reinforcements arrived and slammed into the Whitescale rear, destroying what little will to fight the Whitescales had left.   With their forces concentrated in this battle, the Whitescales were effectively defeated in a single battle, which would become known as the Battle of the Colors. The Dragonborn Civil War ended.

Outcome

With the Whitescale's effectively destroyed, Sorra led a few hundred of the best warriors Draconfall had to offer to reinforce the fighting happening on the Heldir - Pouton border, putting more pressure on Tharrisia during the Tharrisian War.

Aftermath

Many Whitescale Clans suffered great losses in the war and battle. While they were allowed to go back to their business after Aenophentari's very public death, many dragonborn no longer trust their whitescaled cousins. Sorra has spent several decades trying to mend the societal damage caused between the Whitescales and the other colors, but generally Whitescales are now seen as traitorous and untrustworthy.
