Oqnulyiv Settlement in Kald | World Anvil

Oqnulyiv

Oqnulyiv, translated as the "Central City", lies as an island in the center of the northern lake portion of the Rot Saegri. For thousands of years, through empires long forgotten, the city has housed inhabitants. To this very day, the original buildings from the City of Sornata hold occupants for homes, businesses, places of worship, places of meeting, places of governance, places of living. But the population, swelling and diminishing on a scale so long that growth is the overall course, needs more space to live. So, buildings and structures on top of buildings have been added. Like a tree with each year of its life, the city has rings of popular materials denoting trends of the past.

Old and New

Walk into one building and enter through the most modern doorway with Kolzire panes affording natural life. Enter the elevator and be surrounded by varnished wood. Exit a few floors below and everything is carpeted and the walls are painted some kind of white. You walk down, your appointment carries you closer to the core, through a door that doesn't need to be there, you enter more of the hallway, now cobblestone corridor still supporting modern lighting conveniences. You find the office number you're looking for and enter a new stone room, the white skeleton of the ruined world furnished with a receptionist desk and plastic plants on shelves that are lined with only the most modern dust. Even outside the buildings, everything seems to be a mish-mash of old and new. Travel down an asphalt street, make a left onto a bumpy cobble street, then merge into a synthetic speedway.
The central fountain Ovnepiv is a testimate to peace. come see the amazing watter shows occruing every dusk!

The People

The current population is fairly reflective of Oqnulyiv of its long history: The people that live there aren't fully beholden to Born, as the nation itself is split in half, belonging to Roogoh & Brivem under the leadership of the Federation of the Northern City.
