The Grey City

I don't think the builders of The Grey knew that a city would spring up from their work. Just as stone-hewn as the face of Harriot Cliff, these streets tell a story of desperation and ingenuity of those who flocked here.

Demographics

Stonereach, like most of the Commonwealth, is majority Human. However, the diversity in Human ethnicities and other races is stronger in Stonereach than many other places across Northern Emyr. Especially since Chancellor Hileya Jax took office, Stonereach's diversity has only grown.

Government

The city of Stonereach is the capital city of the Imperial Commonwealth of Emyr. The City itself is run by several administrators, all overseen by the Chancellor.
Grand Marshal Vorta Morturak - The Grand Marshal is responsible for maintaining security, safety, and law enforcement in Stonereach.
Minister of Public Works Eugene Haroti - The Minister of Public Works is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure, markets, financial regulations, and fiscal well-being of the capital.
High Priest Tarla Bahumati - The High Priest of Bahamut is the highest clergy member of the Church of Bahamut. Residing at the Platinum Basilica, the High Priest oversees all aspects of the Church of Bahamut, such as the Lawmasters, Priests and Paladins, as well as adopting their new religious name, Bahumati.

Defences

Surrounded by a large circular cliff-to-cliff wall, Stonereach has a large assortment of defenses. Stonereach's main gate is a massive sliding plate of steel, forged deep from within Blackhearth. The gate is raised up into the gatehouse and can be closed in a matter of seconds if necessary.
Towers along Stonereach's wall house ballista with significant coverage of the areas surrounding Harriot Cliff. The natural southern cliff-side makes Stonereach a bastion when it comes to physical defenses.
Stonereach is also protected by a sizable levy of troops nearby in Kingsgate.

Industry & Trade

While it is a hub of trade, Stonereach is not a trade-focused city when compared to places like Valencia or Midgrove City. This is due to Harriot Cliff being relatively hostile to agriculture because of the prevalence of stone, as well as there not being a significant amount of ore in Harriot Cliff. This limits production.
Stonereach is also not a "crossroads city" lying to the west for much of Kal'Araan. While there is a good amount of trade through Haulder, not much makes its way through Valax's Cauldron from the Kagan Highlands or the Frozen North. Most of Stonereach's goods are shipped in through Bower's Bay.

Infrastructure

Stonereach's infrastructure is relatively new compared to many other cities, due to its young age. Many roads, sewers, and other facets of the city's infrastructure are carved from Harriot Cliff itself rather than paved or constructed, resulting in what some refer to as a "smoothness" to the city.
The city is also host to a massive assortment of impressive feats of engineering, such as a mile long well that provides water via Bower's Bay, as well as housing Kal'Araan's largest Arcanium.

Guilds and Factions

Most every official (or underground) organization has some sort of presence in Stonereach. From stewards for the Council of Kings to the Hunter's Run, Stonereach's streets are flush with representatives of organizations both across and outside Kal'Araan.
The most prominent organizations are the ones based in Stonereach, such as the Phonoxian Guard, the Imperial Frontier Society, the Steelstriders, and the Church of Bahamut.

History

In its early days, Stonereach was not planned to be a city. When the builders of The Grey finished the original building, their personal homesteads and those constructed to house the new flocks of denizens laid the foundations for what Stonereach has become. Much of it's history is still emerging as it joins the rest of Kal'Araan's older settlements.

Architecture

Stonereach's architecture is relatively unique, being centered around the style of The Grey. Tall grey spires and clean-cut stone are essentials to Stonereach Architecture.

Geography

Stonereach lies within Harriot Cliff, a small sub-region of the Northern Emyr Expanse.
