Everyn

Princess of The Royal House of Kaevil Daughter of Edregard I and Vensensa   Born less than a year after her brother Arthindon and raised together with him as infants, toddlers and as they grew, it was to be expected that they might be similar. As their mother once lamented "I would have hoped the gods would have balanced out their flaws and virtues between them, and that my daughter might have all the tact my second son so clearly lacks."

It was not to be the case.

As headstrong and forthright as her brother, Everyn was the despair of her House Malmor raised mother who had hoped to be able to raise a fine lady, gifted in the arts of society, diplomacy and intrigue that were so natural to her. Instead Everyn was direct to the point of rudeness and rebelled against the strictures and authority placed upon her as daughter of a king.

Arthindon risked his parents' displeasure by secretly training Everyn in swordplay and though she was never the master of the art that he was, she became competent enough to hold her own, and more, in direct challenge. She boasted that she had gone out in man's garb and put her skills to the test.
More than one story and song was later written implying that a mystery-knight at some tourney or other might have been the disguised Everyn. Though there is no proof of this, adherents of this sensational theory point to a tournament held in 838 outside the city of Edrelan. The Princess was supposed to be there as guest of honour but pleaded her absence through sickness. The tournament featured the appearance of a mystery-knight who performed well enough to be awarded a Silver-Spear. The lady who was presenting the awards in the absence of Everyn commiserated with the knight that it was not to be the Princess who gave him the accolade, but the mystery knight consoled her that he had always considered it impossible that he would be introduced to the Princess and that he was more than content with how things had transpired. Much has been inferred from this. It is also notable that the Princess Everyn recovered from her fever soon after the tournament ended, though she insisted on being attended by her personal physicians in private for some weeks following.

She was married in 841 to Vadryk of House Malmor at her mother's arrangement. Some scholars with more wit than tact have wondered what offense Vadryk had committed against the Dowager-Queen to have deserved that fate. She was mother to Parnan and Maldyn
