Session 43: How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?

General Summary

DATE: 21/12/241-Epilogue
  • Party narrow down the possible locations of Ellisar's teleportation to the ancient lair of Kalorgach the Pristine, a Silver Dragon that was killed millennia ago
  • Upon arrival the party investigate the lair, find it abandoned and robbed near clean of any valuables, as well as the levitating skeleton of Kalorgach the Pristine
  • Grimmie discovers that the spell holding the remains specifically targets dragons bones, keeping them locked in position
  • Narron communes with Kalorgach's spirit and learns that he is indeed a Silver Dragon and that by removing the spell on his bones he would come back via true resurrection
  • Grimmie does so and Kalorgach is freed, sharing that Ellisar was here, though vanished when a Living God appeared
  • Party also learn via Divination that Ellisar stole a divine fragment from the Inheritors, which is why he was sort of on the run from them
  • Lohren asks Qhymos for aid, who gives the party a stone that, placed in a wayfinder, points directly at the divine fragment Ellisar stole
  • Teleporting away after saying their goodbyes to Kalorgach, the party spend the next day traveling to Nayang, the city of the Living God of Growth, Encomqu
  • Outside the city the party are advised to hide their magic items and religious symbols, as that would attract the wrong kind of attention
  • Lohren learns from a guard in the city that Ellisar is not someone to search for, which the party gets more clarification from a kind bartender who explains that Ellisar is the new Divine Arcanist for Encomqu
  • To get a meeting with the Living God would require a month of waiting, so the party place the request and return to Kharahal for the end of year festivities
  • Run by the Gravekeepers these festivities reveal many games, rides, traditions, food and drink from Mahan's golden days, entertaining the tens of thousands of people in the city
  • On the last day of the year the Kharahal Kerraraks win the Tufinuph championship for a fourth year in a row, though after a hard fought game
  • While waiting for the month to pass the party decide to hit the Witch King's fortress to get his staff
  • They receive word from Feno that Ahmiri is in the capital of the Federation of Accelko, Kezulb, and that she is the head of the Order of the Whispervine
  • The Kharahal Chapter of the Order greets the party when they come looking for Ahmiri, and are teleported to their Headquarters
  • Ahmiri provides all the information that she can to aid them before the party go to the Fortress, namely that the Staff is either in the Observatory at the Fortress's peak or in the Throne room at its heart
  • The party travel for a few days from Zahin (their closest point) to the mountains of Kuzdahn, spotting statues of Feno and other Aerokineticists (learning of the local folk religion surrounding them) as well as traveling through the surface lands of the Qivdaram
  • Arriving near the fortress the party swiftly fly or teleport to the top of the observatory, spotting a large mass of undead in the lower levels of the fortress
  • After nearly falling to their deaths the party clamber down to the observatory balcony, where they immediately spot the staff and some sort of apparition moving about the room
  • While being unstealthy the party discuss what to do, which the Witch King finds annoying, calling them out on it
  • After a brief back and forth he attempts to Power Word Kill Grimmie, which just fails, and the battle starts
  • Six seconds later it is over as Bubba has annihilated the Witch King, and Narron sends his essence straight to the Nine Hells
  • Grimmie makes their case for the divine fragment in the staff, receiving no challenge, removes it from the staff, causing the undead it created to disanimate, and the party returns to the Fifth Pillar
  • In the following weeks and months, Methilid informs Grimmie that Ellisar is most likely under the control of the Living God and taking him away would cause a major international incident, resulting in them deciding to wait a few years until they are stronger
  • Lohren would eventually return to the Confederacy and spend much time working as a diplomat and problem solver, quickly becoming liked by local rulers, setting himself up nicely for a future in politics
  • Bubba would eventually join and dominate Tufinuph, resulting in many new rules having to be created just to contain their insane agility and power
  • Jarran would retire from adventuring, choosing to instead focus on his craftsmanship and lending his mind to the reconstruction efforts at Sinaes
  • Grimmie would, after months of hard work, reveal to the their friends that they used the divine fragment to create a god, an aspect of Nythrion, called Sihr, to be the God of Magic. In the sky, if one were to look at the moon, a smaller moon orbiting it could be seen
  • Narron would, after a year or two, reveal that he and the Gravekeepers would be redoing the ritual that created Yazeth in an attempt to create a god for Mahan so that the Legion could have their own afterlife. Unsure of how it would actually end up working Narron would say his goodbyes and would not be seen again by his friends, though those among them with the burgeoning power of a Legend could see a third moon in the sky
