History
Magnus and Jimmy met when Magnus began working in the institution where Jimmy was being held. Jimmy insisted he was a man and at first Magnus was sceptical. But as a doctor he had read about gender dysphoria and even though the available literature classified it as a mental illness, he recognised himself in Jimmy's affliction; being different and not belonging, being forced into a role that doesn't fit. Jimmy was wary of Magnus at first, but then the doctor began slipping him hormones. Feeling his body change did wonders for Jimmy's confidence and sense of self. The doses were small enough and the changes gradual enough that it took time before anyone else began to notice. Jimmy and Magnus fell in love, despite Jimmy's feminine anatomy, and Magnus vowed to get Jimmy out of the institution and somewhere safe where he could be himself.

History
Jenn and Jimmy were good friends when they were children, but after being bullied in school, Jenn became very withdrawn and she and Jimmy lost touch for a while. They became friends again for a bit when they were sixteen, and Jimmy confided in Jenn about his gender identity issues, though he never fully came out to her. They met again when Jimmy escaped from The Galton Institute and joined the Cambridge cell of The Queer Resistance.
History

History
Even though Imogen didn't grow up the way Violet had hoped, she always loved her daughter a great deal. It was a huge blow to Violet when Imogen was taken away. Her insistence on trying to convince Jimmy to abandon his gender put a strain on their relationship and caused Jimmy to feel as though his mother didn't love him and only cared about how things looked. In truth, Violet loved Jimmy very much.

History
Carter and Imogen grew up not thinking much of each other. They were treated very differently. Jimmy was jealous of his brother, though he didn't know why at the time, and Carter was very annoyed by Jimmy. He had a tendency to bully his 'sister'. Any affection Carter might have held for Jimmy went away when Jimmy was taken away for conversion therapy. Jimmy feels mostly indifferent towards his brother.

His tests and experiments mostly consist of brain scans and Minor attempts at behavioural modification, which he does not perform himself and instead leaves the the neurologist on staff. Magnus convinces Jimmy to tone down his animosity somewhat, to keep him out of trouble.
