Blight's Rest
Blight's Rest is a town in the Protected Territories situated around Erziehen Elevator 4B. It is the southernmost settlement before entering the Somber Lands from the Protected Territories, and as such, for many mercenaries and explorers, it is a place to gather, to resupply, and to rest.
Structure
The center of Blight's Rest is comprised of a series of small businesses and legal buildings whose purpose is to redistribute supplies from Erziehen to the people of Blight's Rest. Surrounding that is a collection of layered shanties that comprise the majority of the town's construction, inhabited by all manner of folk, some of whom work in Erziehen but cannot afford to live there. The exit of the town is the most secure and populated area, containing several two-story shops and a dedicated flophouse, along with a mechanic and other services. This is where mercenaries from the Somber Lands come to gather and recuperate before reentering the wilds, and also where there is a job postings board where the people of Blight's Rest and Erziehen air their troubles for mercenaries to possibly resolve.Locations in Blight's Rest
Bosch's Place provides food, drink, and live music to any looking to take a load off. Wild Arms was originally simply a garage for vehicles, but due to the increased need, the proprietor has taken to creating, fixing, and modifying weaponry for those attempting to travel out into the Somber Lands. Blight's Rest Hospital is a medical center that primarily caters to mercenaries and travelers. The Hospital is regularly supported and supplied by Erziehen. Kellyn's is a flophouse with lodging for up to thirty people, some of the regulars of which have become unofficial citizens of the town. Ned's Porch is a trade store that functions largely on the barter system. Many people trade in items varying from technology, to weaponry, to clothes, and anything else someone can convince the proprietor to take off their hands. The Arrow is a surface partner to the first layer Erziehen local paper, The Bow. The owner of the Arrow, Portia D. Smith is the cousin of Peter Leonard, the owner of the Bow. They are a small news publication that favors on-the-ground and authentic reporting. Often times, if Leonard believes a story to be too dangerous or inflammatory for The Bow to cover, he will send his information to The Arrow. Erziehen officials can always be found at Elevator 4B, which lies at the Northern edge of town, surrounded by the town's walls. The elevator also has a general office that provides Element and supplies to the city by way of the train.
