Uruk, Heart of the New World

The Middle Region, consisting of Syria, Iraq and Kuwait, named after Uruk – Perhaps as a nod to the ancient cultures that once hailed from these lands. It is so far mostly undeveloped desert terrain that is widely unexplored other than a few sites that could possibly have been the ancient Sumerian Cities. At the shoreline of the central region is the namesake city of Antuki, the current acting capital of the empire and the central hub of its trade and economy. Much of this region has also been used to mine precious resources, like oil, gems and minerals, and even some radioactive materials that could have remained from the century prior. Due to this, there are many oil and gas processing plants in the deserts of this region.   It is the beating heart of its namesake, and is guarded by the Island of Cyprus, which itself has been made into a naval base and is the central hub of the nation's naval forces. Being the ever-meticulous planner, the empress has since devised quite the naval defence that consists of a great expanse of gates that run along the coast from the most southern part of Babaal to the edge of Sargon, with Cyprus in its centre – Named Fort Pheles.   The defensive system is often referred to as “Chiron” or “The Wheel of Fire”, which may give some depiction of it. Other than this, all that is known about it is the large sea vessels situated at intervals as checkpoints, to which host great statues of Ishtarian gods, baring their namesake weapons and in each hand, a rope net that supposedly stretches from each end of the defences. In the centre at Fort Pheles, the great statue of the Empress bares the rope from her back to sprawl out like wings of fire to her foes. Supposedly, it is doused in an oily wax that can ignite with ease, despite it being submerged in waters. Above this, is the line of mortar defences and array of naval ships that patrol the region. The surrounding sea in New Antuki Bay is often referred to as “Styx”
